A forgotten gem

Novotel Lami can be easily overlooked for Suva commuters or hotel junkies. I have stayed in my fair share of properties including this hotel before it underwent its renovations. While i had an expectation, i thought it would be just an average stay, but this time, I was surprised...the service had improved, the rooms with an ocean view was excellent and the vibes were great. Food though could be better especially the breakfast buffet but the service made me forget the shortcomings. So Novotel is on my list for recommended Suva stays though its disdvantage is the distance from Nadi to Suva and the inconveniences of Suva being within eye sight but the rigors of beating traffic can slow you down. If I had to, I would stay on this property again...hands down.

Though my initial welcoming was not to my expectations as we arrived at 4pm and the room was not ready. I also had to remind the staff to split the Queen bed. This is something that could be fixed on the website as even though I booked split bed the reservation confirmation email still said Queen bed. Overall a great location with different colors of the sky as backdrop on a beautiful day. Staff are friendly and food is good. We enjoyed the breakfast. The "Kokoda" was exceptional.

The front desk staffs are not well briefed with check-in, looks like. Only two staffs to check-in and same time other staff pop in and disturb them in between. Took ages for me to check-in.
