This hotel was very much in need of updating as the furniture was stained and frayed and the carpets were stained. We were disappointed that our pre-paid price through Booking.com several months in advance was actually reduced by £60 per night closer to the date. The spa facilities were at an additional charge which I do not expect for a room in Cardiff of £180 per night. The bar was very lacking in atmosphere with shabby furniture. Bed was comfortable, although again, the furniture was overdue for replacement and the bathroom also overdue for a refurb!

Poor Customer Service = no return visit

Stayed for 1 night, but sadly won't be returning again. Our arrival experience was highly disappointing. The person at the check-in desk was extremely abrupt and uninterested. Their poor attitude was so pronounced that we seriously considered leaving immediately. We were given zero orientation regarding the hotel facilities, dining times, or the location of our room. When I politely inquired about the location of the stairs (as I prefer not to use lifts), I was abruptly told the hotel "doesn't have any stairs." This response was unhelpful and concerning. On a positive note, the room itself was spacious and very clean. However, for a 4-star property, the absence of basic complimentary items like bottled water and biscuits was noticeable. The breakfast buffet offered a good spread with a solid variety of hot and cold items. Unfortunately, the dining experience was let down again by an uninterested member of staff at the greeting point, leaving us to figure out the process ourselves. A primary reason for booking this 'spa hotel' was to use the facilities. We were extremely disappointed to discover an extra charge of £10 per person, per entry, for the swimming pool. This hidden cost is prohibitive and misleading for a hotel guest. The only truly positive customer service experience came from the lady working in the bar area who obviously failed their customer service training as she was polite, friendly and helpful,

Dinner and bar - Bad points - dinner menu - fish and chips were inedible we had to ask for a reduction in price, waiter put down plates and some meals slipped off on the table and floor, didn't offer to assist to pick the spilt meals or to replace any of the food, inattentive staff on first night - we had preordered the main meals and were told that the dessert orders would be taken on the night. We had to go and find a waiter when it became evident that no one was coming to take an order. Wrong items delivered to the table. One waiter in particular shouted every time he spoke to anyone at the table. This did not create a pleasant atmosphere. This particular waiter made gin and tonic without ice or lemon. I had to ask for them. He also used 2 bottles of tonic between 3 drinks. He reluctantly gave me the third bottle. Dinner and bar - Good points - dinner menu - Hake, pan roast lamb were both cooked really nicely. The young lady behind the bar was excellent in spite of there being an extremely large party in. Breakfast - bad points - no tea pots, cold food wasn't taken away just added to the top of the replacement food Breakfast - good points - Reasonable choice to suit most palettes and dietary needs. Lovely loaf to slice for toast Reception - standard check in procedure - didn't feel greeted. Car park - very expensive, the access is extremely tight Location - Google maps takes you around the back of the building not to the pull in area for reception. The car park is located on a turning before the hotel entrance. I'm glad I did my research on Google street map before arrival. Room - was spacious, a little tired. Dirty windows outside, The shower leaked from under the door flooding the bathroom floor. Not enough milk, coffee and tea supplies for our 2 night stay. The cleaning staff didn't clean the room or visit the room. We had to request replacement towels for the ones we'd used to mop up the leak from the shower. The bed was comfortable. The telephone had a broken cable and wouldn't allow the cleaners to hear me even though I managed to get it to dial out. Lifts are quite noisy. Other guests returning to their rooms could be heard through the door. Location - not too far from St David's Centre shops but the walk is not very pleasant.

The hotel was ok but is starting to become shabby in places. On arrival the main hotel entrance door was broken and then the air con wasn't working in the room which originally I put down to my incompetence but after reading other reviews seems to have been a problem since June! The room was lovely and clean and a generous size with a comfy bed but the carpet had seen better days and I don't think it had received any refurbishment since the hotel opened in the early 2000s. All staff met were helpful and polite but with a £10 charge to use the hotel pool despite being a resident it was all a bit underwhelming for the cost which is such a shame for what was a well thought of hotel previously.

Amazing! Highly recommend. Central location. 10minute walk into the centre. Staff extremely welcoming and friendly. Answered all our questions. The reception area is clean and beautifully presented. Our room was on the 12 floor. Beautiful views of the city, the room was massive with plenty of space and facilities were perfect. Tea and coffee, fridge, safe and extremely comfy massive bed. Had an amazing sleep, no disturbance and limited noise from outside/surround areas. The bathroom, well it was immaculate. The shower & bath were amazing the water was nice and hot. My husband was well impressed with the pressure of the shower. Value for money, one of the cheapest hotels we found, which we were surprised due to its central location and presentation, we expected it to be a lot more. Will highly recommend and be sure to book again on our next visit. The only down side to the hotel is parking, the car park is quite small despite the size of the hotel, luckily we did manage to get a space but we had to wait awhile. Parking is quite costly, so you may be able to find cheaper near by? Unsure of this without looking. However the parking is secure. So sometimes it a worth paying for the safety of your car. Will be sure to stay again. Thank you.
