When they say booking in is at 3 they mean 3 and no earlier unless you have early. Poking but the good thing is check out is 12. The hotel is an older hotel with creaking floors and out fashioned staircase. Our room was spacious enough we were only staying one night any longer may have felt cramped. The TV was enormous which my husband liked. Facilities were adequate, tea/coffee etc nice touch with the one packet of biscuits, fridge, ironing board and iron, safe. Shower was in the bath so for those less able please note. They do provide slip mat. Toiletries are attached to the wall. It would benefit from a blind or privacy curtain in the window so you didn’t need to close the main curtains while dressing. The location of the hotel is quite central about a 20min walk to the railway station. 10 minutes from the Cathedral 5 minutes from most restaurants and bars. We had a pleasant stay and would stay again at the reduced rate we paid.

This traditional hotel is somewhat lacking in ambience but that lack is more than made up with adequacy - it ticks all boxes with ability and functionality. Agreeable reception staff, practical rooms (albeit with minimal wash hand basins) and bit of a maze of rooms. However we were promptly served with perfect lunch snack sandwiches and our following morning breakfast (which included fried bread! - a rarity) could only have been bettered with bubble & squeak instead of hash brown. Parking is on site. We enjoyed our stay and thank you.

Room was clean and comfortable, breakfast was excelent catering for all tastes, staff freindley and helpful. Water in the bathroom was barely warm carpets could do with replacing, otherwise a great stay.
