New Year surprise 🎆

We stayed in one of their suites for 7 nights and welcomed in the New Year here. We didn’t expect to see a tiny glimpse of the KLCC fireworks from our room and the fireworks from the KL tower near the lifts so that was a good surprise for us as a family as we did not want to brave the crowds. As always, excellent services by the housekeeping team and the concierge team who welcomed us with bright smiles and greetings every time we returned. Happy to be back at the Novotel and looking forward to our next stay!

We stayed at the Novotel for 9 nights and enjoyed our stay. I had read quite a few negative reviews so wasn’t sure what to expect but we were very happy with the room, the service, the cleanliness, the facilities, the food and the location. We look forward to staying again soon.

Somewhat Happy Ending to a Comedy of Errors

Stayed at the Novotel Kuala Lumpur City Centre for two nights as an ALL Plat. Poor overall experience, though the executive lounge on the first floor was a nice touch and offered some decent amenities (particularly premium sparkling and still water) Arrived at the Novotel at 12.30pm but room was not ready despite prior conveyance of arrival details. Quite pointless to proactively reach out to Plats to get arrival information only to reply that check-in is subject to availability and if the room can't be ready 1.5 hours ahead of regular check in. Might as well not reach out with a pre-arrival email at all. Faced significant issues with laundry not being returned on time which the property claimed was due to a missing deposit (despite no such specific instructions being provided). There were also issues around not being able to contact an operator via the in room phone, which represents not just a service but also a safety issue. The delayed laundry required a protracted discussion and follow-up for the hotel to resolve the matter satisfactorily. It was disappointing that the hotel's internal discussion with its GM allegedly determined that the hotel would not provide any service recovery. This was not very hospitable, particularly when the decision was made with false information. The hotel had also unilaterally charged the guest's credit card (even after being informed that the guest would like to speak with a management rep in the afternoon) after the false assumption that the guest departed (despite luggage being in the hotel's possession). Charging a credit card that is not on file is disingenuous when the hotel was relying on the argument of not having a credit card on file as justification for the laundry issue and lack of service recovery. The staff here are friendly and well intentioned but not hospitality minded. It would take fundamental mindset and culture change to turn this place around, apart from relying merely on its good location to drive business. At the Novotel's price point, there is absolutely no reason for prospective guests to stay here. Those looking for access to Pavilion can stay at the JW or Grand Millennium, while ALL Elites will be better off at the Pullman.

Premium breakfast experience at the Premier Lounge

I was being invited to have breakfast at the tastefully-decorated Premier Lounge by a friend recently. While The spread was somewhat small but it was adequate and yummy. Yet what stood out was that Novotel, a 4 star hotel could have easily surpass any r 5 star hotel lounges in the vicinity given the high quality of food and beverages served. While the bread section at the premier lounge was small but it offered Payson Bretton Butter, a premium French butter. That was a rarity at a 4 star. Moving on, the local fares like Nasi Lemak was so good. I particularly loved the aroma of the chilly paste which went so well with my coconut milk rice. In addition, premium sparkling and still water San Pelligrino and Aqua Panna were served throughout along with coffee and tea. Such beverages can only be seen at a 5 star property and mind you not all 5 star lounges may want to have that as they are costly drinks. To elevate my breakfast experience, the staff, both Asif and Rasid were superb. They wore genuine smiles and were more than happy to be at your beck and call. I think Novotel has definitely hired the best staff. I have stayed there at least twice and i still remembered how proactive and guest- orienting the GM, Ms Angelia Ku was. I wanted to actually meet her that very morning. However she was away. To the management and GM, tq for having me and I definitely will book another stay in the near future to enjoy such sumptuous breakfast again.
