“Good Location, Average Service”

I stayed at this hotel for three nights in September 2025. The location is excellent — very convenient for the metro and easy access to the city center. Breakfast was average for a 4-star hotel. My room was on the first floor facing the street. Although I placed the “Please clean my room” sign, housekeeping didn’t come until I asked. The cleaning was quite superficial, and tea and coffee were not refilled. The next day, housekeeping came around 6 p.m., which was rather late, and only refilled the tea. I was surprised to see that the glasses were washed in the bathroom sink without detergent — not very hygienic in my opinion. I requested new glasses the following day, and they replaced them. A jug was provided for filling water from the bathroom tap, which I didn’t find hygienic either. Overall, the location was great, but housekeeping quality and hygiene standards should be improved.

Yet again this morning no hot water, despite taking it at 5am. This goes beyond an inconvenience, this is not acceptable, simple basics for a hotel to offer paying guest. A refund for my stay I think should be offered!! I was not told this shortage of hot water during my booking, if I had I would not have booked it. Trying to Glam it up, calling it a ‘DIVA Alert’, no it’s basic hygiene!! I will not stay here again. AVOID, AVOID!!

I booked the Novotel based on the reviews here and the fact it’s a chain where you know what you’re getting. Standard rooms, standard service, convenient location - what can go wrong for a four days business trip to Vienna? While the hotel provides soundproof windows, they can’t cancel out the remarkable sound system from the nightclub across the street. I asked for a quiet room at check-in and they handed me a key for room 306. the room - as most rooms in this hotel - are facing the nightclub Praterstrasse. First night and I hardly slept due to the noise from the club and the party crowd outside on the street. I raised this with reception, they were very understanding and I was told that I’m not the only one who complained about the noise that night. The next day I was promised a quieter room and was moved to room 411. different floor - same problem. When I called the reception I was assured there’s nothing that can be done as the club has a concession until 6am. There are no other rooms available. Two nights in a row with hardly any sleep is annoying to say the least. While the staff can’t help the situation I am really surprised that this is not mentioned here more often. The staff knows about this problem and guests frequently complain. While there might be nothing that can be done about the night club and its party guests outside, I would have appreciated if it was mention here in the reviews. I would have booked an alternative.

Review for Novotel Wien City This was my second (and definitely last) stay at this hotel. The first time was already a disaster, but I thought I’d give it another chance since it’s close to my office. Big mistake. First of all, don’t be fooled by the glossy photos online – the rooms are tiny. Housekeeping is a joke: for 4 days straight they didn’t bother removing used coffee cups or water glasses, and there were zero toiletries provided. One year later, the bathroom sink drain in the exact same room number is still clogged. Clearly maintenance is non-existent. The staff? Unfriendly, unaccommodating, and absolutely indifferent. This was consistent across both visits. One evening the hallway had no lights – I reported it, and nothing was done even after 5 hours. But here’s the absolute dealbreaker: housekeeping left my room door completely open from 9 AM until 6 PM. Yes, you read that right – my room was unlocked and exposed for nine hours. Anyone could have just walked in. When I told the manager, he showed care initially but totally ignored me afterwards and nothing has been done. That level of negligence is beyond unacceptable. This hotel is unsafe, poorly run, and shows zero respect for guests. I would never recommend it to anyone. There are plenty of other options in the area – even another Accor hotel just a 2-minute walk away that offers the same price with infinitely better service. Avoid Novotel Wien City at all costs.
