Great Location - Not Great Hotel

Good location - our room was massive! if a little grey. Standard big chain trying to be trendy type hotel. Cathedral view room on 13th floor was very spacious and comfortable with built in furniture and fairly well appointed - if you are staying more than a few days you may struggle with storage space. The 'bathroom' has a folding divider from the the bedroom - in our room it didn't work very well and complaints to the front desk didn't get it resolved. TV and sound system were infuriating to try to use and we could not get the hotel menus from the TV to order room service as the signal kept cutting out. We did call room service and the did deliver a great bottle of wine (although it was a tad expensive) I liked the space of the room, but the technology in the room was a let down (we were woken up by the lights flashing in the middle of the night - complaint was not actioned on) Coffee bar in the lobby had inconsistent service - the male server made the coffee better than the female - the guy did art on the top and provided a chocolate, she just pushed a button on the machine and didn't give any treats. Roof top restaurant - terrible service. You felt really unwelcome as staff would walk past you and around you, and ignore you when you arrive and it takes a while to get service. We went for a drink one night but the music was so loud it was impossible to sit and enjoy the night time view of Vienna - Lost in Translation it was not. Great for a business hotel but no real soul.

Impossible to sleep

Despite our late arrival after a long journey, we were unable to rest due to a hotel event in the restaurant that continued until 2 AM. The reception failed to inform us of this beforehand. The loud music made it impossible to sleep. Additionally, the restaurant was closed due to the event, and room service was unavailable as there was no table suitable for two people in our room. While one could eat at the work desk, the other person had no option. Furthermore, the room lacked a sofa.

There is no information whatsoever to the guest or waters in the rooms. By the way, the white suites look like and feel like an hospital room. During breakfast, you need to cover more than 50 meters across the area to find the different items, but no coffee. You need to ask for one and to make their life easier the waitresses do not even explain the different options you have. The same with the fact that you can order something from the kitchen (in fact almost everything since very little is displayed in the room). After10 min waiting and already late for my meeting I finally get a black coffee. Then I need to circle around the room again to find the milk. No lactose free option. Nice! Great view, nice music, but 1 star hostel level of service. I am definitely not staying in Sofitel again.

The skyline of town is stunning and atmosfere itself is perfect it was week day so they have let us in dough we didn't have a reservation. We have had the table near bar and enjoed the botle of wine. Perfect for couples perfect scenary for fotoes. The service and atmosfere were perfect.

Excellent hotel in Vienna

The hotel is located around a 10-min walk from St. Stephen's Cathedral. We stayed at a SO comfy king room on the 15th floor (free upgrade). The room was very large with a large bathtub, a nice view, and a comfortable bed. breakfast (on 18th floor with amazing views) was excellent. The staff were very nice and helpful. The jacuzzi was on the 5th floor (not very hot). We were there during a storm, and crossing the bridge into the old city was challenging in the wind & rain. If you have a car you can park in the underground parking at level -3 (bring the parking card to the from desk).
