Worse hotel ever. My husband booked this as a surprise holiday for me and for my baby boy. We have travelled to Dubai so many times before and have stayed at Amwaj Rotana which is an AMAZING hotel with amazing staffs. It was our first time staying at Sofitel and we will never ever be booking Sofitel ever again. When we first arrived we checked in the women who checked us in was so rude she had no empathy. Firstly they didn’t have the room we booked on the first day she said that it’ll be ready the next morning so they made us stay in a twin bedroom which affected my back so much as I had a c section so I woke up in bad pain and could hardly sleep. Secondly we did not know that we had to pay a deposit as we already paid the full amount for the holiday in advance but there rule is that you still need to pay deposit which you get back end of the trip which we did not get back which I will mention at the end. We explained to the women we did not know about the deposit she was so rude she said she will take the fridge away from us which we needed to store our baby’s baby milk. We didn’t refuse to pay it we just mentioned we wasn’t aware of it. We complaint about this women the following morning to a guy who was really helpful and got us a new room sorted with great view even though he did this we still felt like our experience at Sofitel didn’t feel great. Staff at other hotels that we have stayed in previously have AMAZING customer service skills. Sofitel staffs was not nice. Except from the guy that sorted our room out. We got no compensation for the wrong room on the first day. Another issue was the day we checked out we asked the girl who was checking out we kindly asked can she check us out fast and give our deposit back as soon she can as we are running late to the airport which you could tell by her face she was getting annoyed by. We was hardly given any of our deposit back they took most of the money. We was told that there will be a mini fridge in the room with fizzy drinks and water but the women that checked us in on the first day never ever mentioned that there is a charge for the drinks she gave the impression that it is part of our package! we hardly got our deposit back as they took most of it! Worse hotel ever with bad customer service. No empathy at all. We also was suppose to receive a welcome cake for my baby’s first holiday which was confirmed on email before arrival but they forgot so they did it the next day after telling them. We come Dubai twice a year we will never be arriving to Sofitel ever again

Lots to like about this hotel. But various things that stop us giving it full marks. Check in is friendly, helpful, and extraordinarily slow. Indeed, when we were checking out at the end of our stay, a queue of irritated guests was building up, and some walked away in irritation. Our room, on the Club floor was lovely. An excellent bathroom, with a bath-tub, and cleanliness and regular cleaning was great. The Club lounge was excellent, and I would like to compliment all the staff who work there for their friendly professionalism. However dinners were disappointing – mainly in their atmosphere. We were often set next to videos advertising Madame Tussauds, which replayed almost every minute. Sitting in the restaurant often felt like being in a work’s canteen, rather than a hotel restaurant. But the food selection was great, and the staff helping were efficient. We were surprised, and disappointed, that the hotel had no seats on the beach. The pool was fine, with helpful staff. So we enjoyed our stay – but, if we were to return, we would only eat in the Club Lounge, and eat elsewhere for other meals.
