It stated that if the shower steam triggers the fire alarm,(1000 AUD) the guest would be fined. Given that showering and sleeping are the most fundamental purposes of staying at a hotel, having to be overly anxious while taking a shower felt unreasonable. If it were a fine for smoking, I would completely understand. However, managing shower steam is an issue the hotel should resolve by improving its ventilation system, not by placing the burden and stress on the guests.

We would like to clarify that the fine is only applicable in the event that the fire alarm is triggered, as this requires an emergency response and impacts the safety and comfort of all guests in the property. To avoid this, guests are simply required to keep the bathroom door closed while showering. When the door is left open, steam can disperse into the room and may activate the alarm system. We understand your concerns; however, these measures are in place to ensure compliance with safety standards and to prevent unnecessary disruptions. We appreciate your understanding.
