Top of the Hill

This was our first time in NZ, and this place did not disappoint. We arrived in the dark and could not experience the lush beauty until morning. We were assigned room 26, not truly understanding the question - does anyone in your party have mobility issues? After four days, our sixth decade bodies were able to walk up and down the hill without stopping. Positives: the staff was amazingly friendly, courteous, and helpful; there was always someone available to pick us up or drive us back (one of the waiters took us to our room when the front desk staff was unavailable); the tennis court and pool were easily accessible Negatives: driving can be a nail-biter if you aren't familiar with driving through the mountains - we are from flatlands in TX; the tennis rackets need to be replaced or restrung. Overall, we loved Coromandel Peninsula and all of the accessiblle natural beauty within a day's trip.

Wonderful Stay

Back again for our yearly stay. Everything in our room was perfect. Linen, bed and the shower was a reason to get out of bed. The staff were great in all areas from reception, to the nice man collecting our recycling (bottles), to restaurant. Our last stay was coloured by a less than acceptable family restaurant meal BUT this time everything was perfect! We ate in every night and enjoyed every meal. The entire complex including pool, spa, gym and garden/bush areas were clean and well maintained. What a fabulous stay we had and we were so happy to see Puka Park back to its best.

Enjoyed location very close to lovely beach and other points of interest. Liked the cabins in the forest and they were very comfortable and clean. The food for dinner was heavy and a bit bland, but breakfast was good. The patios and the paths to the cabins were scruffy with dead plants in planters, poorly lit paths and little in the way of outdoor landscaping. The outdoor area was a little drab.
