We spent two days in Sydney, choosing, within the Accor web site, the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth as it was located near the port. We had booked a Classic room with a king size bed. Once we arrived in the room, we encountered difficulty in closing the door. the wardrobe was very small, containing only two jackets and two shirts and, inside, there were two drawers and two small shelves with little space. The safe was broken. We went to the reception to communicate our disappointment and we spoke with the manager Louis, who, in an unprofessional way, told us that he had never received complaints of this type and that the rate paid was, for him, adequate to the room chosen, not being able to demand another type of room, considering that it was a 5-star hotel in the city center and under renovation.

We were booked in for two nights. Upon arrival the receptionist said we had been upgraded to a Junior Suite however our accommodation was not yet ready. Upon returning at around 4pm we were given our room keys and discovered we were in a single room. Upon querying the receptionist, she advised that the hotel was full and that was all that was available. Fair enough. Our room had a broken desk chair, and the window would not shut properly. The desk lamp was also not working. The maintenance man replaced the chair and fixed the window for us. I understand that with the renovation's things are difficult however for the first time after staying here many times, over many years, we were slightly disappointed.

The hotel was under renovation and nobody informed us about it. The lifts were broken and we were eating our breakfast in a ballroom, which was very uncomfortable impersonal and third rate. Staff incredibly unresponsive didn’t return any calls, and the room service didn’t work at all.one day we returned to the hotel and we had to be led through all of the back alleyways in order to get us to our rooms. This was totally unacceptable and very, very disappointing experience.

What a weekend. One that we will not forget. Booked into our favourite room “The Wentworth Suite”. Thanks to Sam, Alley and the team for making our engagement weekend the best weekend thus far. Alley and the team went above and beyond with amazing customer service. Words cannot express our gratitude. After a planning meeting with Alley, they helped me plan the big event for Friday evening in our suite. When we came back to the room after a great dinner, we were greeted by my planed event. She said yes!!! Sam was super upfront around the construction and limitation in the hotel. This was not an issue as we love the Sofitel and the team at the Wentworth! World class!!!

Staff were very helpful when we got soaked coming back from a walk. The receptionist provided a hairdryer to help me dry out, even though we had already checked out. I was very grateful.
