A Neighborhood with Great Transportation

We have been to Mercure Piazza Bologna before and find more neighborhood amenities each time we stay. Besides the convenient Metro Linea B, where you can change to line A there are many buses. #62 stops at Piazza Berni and near the Pantheon. The location of Mercure is just outside the central zone walls and is so much less hectic than tourist central that we delight in the more quiet neighborhood ambiance, and less crowded neighborhood pasticceria, and restaurants. The staff at the hotel are professional and very accommodating. They can help you with just about anything, so don’t be shy about asking. We don’t even bother to look at other hotels in Rome because we are so happy with this hotel.

The only negative we experienced was that the wifi was often extremely slow. The location was great, close to the Metro, in a quiet neighbourhood, and staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful.

This was definitely the most unpleasant stay in a Accor ever. Once I arrive in the hotel in the 28th Apr the staff didn’t have anyone on call to shift from heater to AC so I had a terrible hot night. The same thing happened in the day after. In the third day it wasn’t still fixed the problem but with the temperatures not as hot as the previous days I was able to sleep a few hours after I went to bed. I lost precious nights of sleep during my vacations and the worst thing was that I thought staying in a Mercure would be a hassle free experience worth the cost. I was wrong. To add on that, the WiFi was always slow, even though we were using latest versions of iPhone, we couldn’t load videos on instagram. I did complain but at this point in time I was so upset that I just gave up. I can tell you that I am no longer staying in Accor hotels after this awful experience and I would not recommend anyone to stay there, on the contrary.

The room and bed was quite small. I had to place the hotel telephone on the floor because the bedside table was so small that I could not even put my mobile there. 2 bottles of water were provided for 3 nights. The air-condition was switched off which turned the room into a sauna. I asked the reception about it and they said they had to turn it off because it was previously too cold and they need a service team to switch it on again. After 3 nights of heat it was still not running. Receptionist told us to open the window but since we were on the first floor we had all the street noise. Anyway, as soon as the sun came out it was getting very uncomfortable. On the positive side, the rooms very clean and hotel staff was friendly. Though the hotel is a bit off the main attractions, metro is nearby.
