Novotel Edinburgh Centre 4 stars

Great stay at the Novotel in Edinburgh. Room was quiet and clean. Seemed to be the best price for location and quality for a four star. Only a four minute stroll down the hill to Grassmarket restaurants and 12 minutes to the Golden Mile. Buffet breakfast was just too pricy at 18 pounds when local options were nastier and cheaper.

I booked a four night stay at the Novotel Edinburgh Centre hotel as part of my Aunt’s 100th birthday present. We both enjoyed our stay, and the staff were always friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I requested an extra duvet, because my Aunt feels the cold at night ( not needed in the end as the suite was always at a lovely ambient temperature). Also, we are partial to our cups of coffee so I requested more milk and coffee sachets – all requests fulfilled with a smile 👍👏. The hotel was clean and spotless (staff take pride in their work) though there was a little wear and tear on some bar seats (adds to the character of the bar). We loved that there was choice of different seating in the bar area. We enjoyed a cappuccino in the bar each afternoon, always served with a smile (and lovely buttery shortbread 👍👏. The choice for breakfast was plentiful, and enjoyable – with staff always busy and helpful, but clearly happy in their work 👏👍. The evening menu was quite limited, but the food we had was very enjoyable ( as was the lager and lime)and the staff were always helpful and friendly 👍👏. The last evening meal we had (Thursday) was accompanied by live music in the bar which we enjoyed very much ( tapping in time to the music while we were eating our delicious sticky toffee pudding). The pool and jacuzzi were spotless and clean, even my aunt at 💯 enjoyed the jacuzzi (I have the photos to prove it)😂. The hotel was just over the road from the bus stop, which was handy. Also, the reception staff were always happy to oblige if we needed a taxi👏👍. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Edinburgh. Also, I would highly recommend visits to the Edinburgh Botanic Gardens and the Royal Yacht Britannia. Looking forward to my next stay in a few weeks.

This was our 2nd visit and we chose this Novotel again due to its great location. Almost everything is within walking distance. I gave it a 4 due to the facilities in the room. We had an executive room so I don’t know if the set up is the same in the other types of room but the only negative is that the facilities are not very private. The door to the toilet is mirrored glass only as is the whole shower. The sink is not really partitioned from the rest of the room but that was ok. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable and there were some very handy toiletries provided too. Despite the above, we are likely to stay here again.

Our Company hired a room for a meeting. Everything needed was provided. Services were excellent and staff very helpful. All enjoyed a very high standard lunch. Nice room. Will definitely use again.
