Sofitel Saigon Plaza 5 estrelas

We've just returned home after three nights in a Prestige Suite. It was one of two on the 20th floor which we also shared with the Presidential Suite and two smaller rooms. We were welcomed with check-in at the club on the 18th floor, though that process wasn't flawless. Prior to arrival I received a text from Sofitel to the effect that my room was ready and the concierge would provide me the key. I had to wait to speak to the concierge and he looked at me like I was crazy. After a bit he took me to the front desk and, after checking their computer, they escorted us to the club on the 18th floor for check-in. To get to our floor we had to use a metal key, plus swipe our key card on a reader in the lift. I didn't care for having to keep track of the key while we were out and about. It seems as if that was something that could have been programed into our key cards. Our luggage was waiting for us when we entered the suite, as was a bottle of sparkling wine and some sweet treats. The suite had a bath and a half; the shower room was huge and could have accommodated multiple people. The hot water tap for the right sink didn't work as the handle just spun around with no water coming out. I reported it and someone came quickly and it worked for about a minute. Another report, another visit and when we returned to the room it didn't work at all and the handle came off. I left it out so the maid could see and the next day it was fixed again and stayed fixed. Overall, the suite, and our experience at the hotel, was superb. Nothing is perfect, however, and I thought the furniture, except for the bed, was not very comfortable, I couldn't find the pillow menu and some little touches that I found at the Metropole in Hanoi were missing - e.g., the maid did not put my toiletries on a small cloth by the sink, nor did turn-down service lay out slippers and a mat by the bed. The turn-down service did replace used towels and wash cloths. The hotel is within walking distance of everything we care about seeing in the city. Wifi was good and the TVs had a number of English language channels. The club was a welcome respite. It provided a buffet breakfast but the regular breakfast on the second floor was too good to pass up. There was tea in the afternoon, but not much in the way of snacks. From 6-8 one could get beer, wine or mixed drinks along with some decent snacks and a dinner menu with choice among three soups and several entrées. The portions aren't huge, but we didn't need to stuff ourselves, either. We had an early flight home and needed to leave the hotel at 5am. At my request, they booked a car for us (there were two couples, so we got a van - it was a very nice Mercedes van and cost $94 - I'm sure you can get transportation much cheaper, but reliability was my primary concern). The hotel also offered to provide us, at no charge, with box breakfasts that consisted of coffee, tea, juice and a box of about five breads and pastries. Not far from the Unification Palace, Cathedral and Post Office of Saigon. The hotel was lovely and we had no complaints. The only slight disappointment was that the Techcom Bank being finished adjacent, blocked out the sun to the Pool area, after about 3pm. Breakfasts were amazing - so much choice and the quality of the food was very good. The staff were also really friendly and made every effort to ensure we had a lovely few days. Special mention to Van Anh who took time to tell us about Saigon, recommending and explaining various options. Thanks Sofitel Plaza Saigon.

What a great stay! Spent 3 nights at Sofitel Saigon and it was one of the most delightful hotel stay ever. Location was great, walking distance to most places. Room was nice and clean with great shower and tub. Food was very good, breakfast was plenty and tasty. Swimming pool was great too, nice size pool with great great view of the city. And hotel is filled with great people, so polite, kind and helpful. It sure was a fantastic stay! If I go back to beautiful Saigon (Hochi min city) I will stay here again for sure. Thanks Hotel!

Stayed 4 nights as a diamond member with appropriate upgrade to a very comfortable if slightly dated room. I very rarely write reviews however in this instance I have to mention the club lounge staff who went out of their way to provide impeccable service. The club lounge itself is quite small but the outstanding feature is the quality of the evening food provided from an extensive menu. The food is at restaurant quality level with both western and local dishes available. Although all staff were excellent I have to name three who stood out, namely the chef Kien, Thu and lastly Han who was so helpful throughout my stay.
