Impossible to log onto free WiFi with windows pc. Staff had to out me on conference network but couldn't guarantee it would work in room (it did). No issue connecting on phone. Room had a single USB socket for charging devices, hardly adequate in this day & age. Room had couch bed made up when we arrived even though I lay 2 of us booked in. Folding up the couch revealed there was no seat cushion so could not be used as a couch. Toilet was separate from bathroom (not necessarily a bad thing) but room containing it was very narrow and poorly lit with rough plaster finish on the walls. More like a public toilet than what you expect in a decent hotel. On the plus side breakfast was good with plenty variety. In summary this hotel looks great on the ground floor but disappoints at room level with tired carpets and a general lack of in-room features (e.g. single USB socket, only fruit teas available by kettle) that should be standard in a hotel of this class.

Very good, only thing that I think needs to be addressed (as I told Reception) was that the bar of soap to use in the wash bowl AND the shower was too little and small.

I would normally stay at a major competitors joint beginning with a 'H' a few hundred metres down the road. This place was selling at an overly inflated price so the Novotel it was for me!! Absolutely no worries all round I'd say. OK, the rooms could definitely do with pimping up a tad but the shower was fine, the bed comfy and my corridor for my three night stay was nigh on silent. The room rate was respectable, if somewhat hyped up for my Saturday booking. Had I researched properly I would have brought my PE kit and hit their gym! I may well return.

Very pleasant, modern hotel. Friendly staff, as always, slightly limited food offering but so many other offerings close at hand. Broad Street is the late night capital but easily avoided and no problem. (If we were younger, we would probably have patronised one of the Wetherspoons!)

Positive experience as always at the Novotel where we have stayed many times. Some positive improvements in the hotel particularly in the bar area. Only minor issue is that midnight is quite early for last orders at the bar on a weekend! We arrived late on the Friday and just about managed to get a nightcap. Staff were very pleasant and the overall cleanliness was first class. Will certainly come back.

If you are attending any events at the Birmingham Symphony Hall this is the place to stay. Usual Novotel standard. Unfortunately the bar does not stay open for residents after 11pm which can be a little irritating if you have been at a concert. However, overall a comfortable stay.

The stay was excellent value for money, the exec room was well equipped and the newly refurbished bar was lovely. The breakfast was really poor though with very cold items and egg that actually looked off. Such a shame when everything else has had so much care put into it.

Very clean room and friendly staff apart from two members off staff woke me up at 10:30 pm knocking on my door to chase payment of our dinner although we had paid for it and after they woke me up at 10:30 they checked and realised we had paid..... not happy that i was woken up though.

Getting to the hotel by car was a nightmare as large parts of Broad Street are closed with roadworks to install a new tram system. While this isn’t the fault of the hotel it would have been helpful if an email with clear directions had been sent out after booking as the diversion signs are useless. When w3 arrived at the hotel there was a sign in reception warning guests that new TVs were being installed and that there may be occasional drilling noises between 9.00 and 17.00. The drilling was constant and was accompanied by loud hammering noises (presumably when rawlplugs were being hammered into the newly drilled walls. The drilling was still going on at 17.30 when we left our room. If we had known in advance that significant work was going on in the hotel we would probably have booked somewhere different.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at the Novotel. I can assure you that we take our guest's comments very seriously as we strive to continuously improve the service of the hotel. Please accept my apologies for the noise due to the maintenance works being carried out in the hotel which will end by 26th March. However, I will address your comments with the relevant departments and can assure you that constructive action will be taken to minimise the noise and that it finishes at 17:00 sharply. Moreover, I would suggest to always check road works on your route and local travel restrictions before starting your journey. Once again please accept my sincere apology and I do hope we have the opportunity to better serve you on your return to Birmingham. Kind regards,
