No hot water

I am a regular customer of Ibis Douala and I rarely complain of anything as I find in Ibis good service, great quality and what I need which is a place to rest and work for a couple of days per month. In my last trip I arrived at midnight and I noticed there was no hot water in the shower. It was not pleasant but I figured it was an exceptional event. This time I arrived at 2 am, tired and only wanting to take a shower to go to bed. Once more I had to conform to a tepid almost cold shower. I had a different room so it is not the room. An international hotel like Ibis must be able to cover the bare minimum which is sufficient hot water (hot, not tepid or cold). Breakfast has improved but quality has declined since last year. They had placed a wonderful coffee machine and variety of food was good. Machine has been broken for months and they keep serving two or three things that have not changed in a long time. I have been in wonderful Ibis hotels around the world and I hope Ibis Douala can improve. They have one the best staff service of Douala without any doubt. They are all kind, nice and always welcoming so it is a shame that something like cold water in a shower or simply improving breakfast can make a difference. I am not willing to keep paying what a room costs in Ibis if at least the hot water issue is not solved. I have to be in Douala every month and I do not think it is too much to ask to have a decent shower.

As a regular customer of this hotel, I am disappointed to see a decrease in its quality. I stay in Ibis at least twice every 2 months but I had not returned due to covid restrictions. The restqurant has never been great. For almost 2 years I have been eating the exact same without any variation. However, they always had whatever they placed on the menu. This time I found myself eating whatever they could serve because they did not seem to have much. Breakfast was the reason why I came to this hotel the first time and I kept coming back because it was varied, fresh and just great. This time I had almost no other option but eggs, which I dont eat so my breakfast was bread with butter. Coffee machine broken. Really disappointing. Rooms still ok but I cannot understand that for this price I have to shower with cold water. First time it happens and it was not very pleasant to find out there was no hot water when I was already in the shower. Service is still great and probably the only reason why I could consider coming back but I am sincerely disappointed with what I saw.

No AC, and No Hot WAter, during my second stay from 20.03.20 thru 24.03.20 vs my stay with you on 06.03.20 thru 08.03.20 and you charged me 1/3 more for my stay per night during my second stay

Interesting, except on the last night when the fire alarm went off at midnight, unfortunately nobody informed the guests that it was a false alarm. Woke up in the middle of the night rushed to the stairs to find out that the guards downstairs were sitting comfortably and welcomed us smiling:"It is a false alarm"! The internet was terrible, one had to go to the bar to get a quality service.

The place is very old, has old mattress, the tap in the bath tub is partly working, staff could not send the bill to my email id.

I stay at this hotel at least every 6 weeks and I always feel welcome and well taken care of. From the second you step into the shuttle to the moment you hand the card back at checkout, I have always received the best service. Ibis is for me one of the best places in Douala. Following the Ibis standards, it is a clean, modern and comfortable place where to rest and work. During this visit I had an issue with my luggage and the staff did all they could to help me sort it.

Room OK, but front desk staff not helpful at all. Refused to answer simple questions regarding transportation in Douala etc. Not possible to pay the room by credit card (card reader out of order) and when I paid in cash I was not given any change since receptionist claim they had none.

Hotel is clean, service friendly, but building badly needs rennovation. Food rather poor. You have renovated your hotels in Ivory Coast and Senegal, but this hotel needs that too!

Overall, my stay was very good. Except for repetitive card machine incidents! I had to make a cash withdrawal because the credit card machine didn't work. It was so annoying to get the excuses from the staff at the reception desk.

- Food/Restaurant was excellent as always - Poor room experience: I had to change room (from Room #313 to #315) on the 3rd day of my stay due to faulty air conditioning (couldn't switch off or regulate it) so start freezing on the third day - Almost lost a piece of my electric shaver in the hand washing basin as it slide through the whole of the basin...It appears hand washing basins in toilette has lost their cover and there is a whole under the tape - Persistent noise from wall drilling maintenance works prevented me from working in the room for a number of days....they was no notice to guest of maintenance work in progress. So I had to work in the internet open space by the restaurant (which wasn't not quiet either)

I always come to the Ibis because I like the atmosphere. The rooms are small, the rugs are dirty, the WiFI rarely works but there's a nice feel to the place.

Good day, The rooms were comfortable enough to not feel overwhelmed, yet it felt like they could be cleaned more extensively. One bottle of water is probably not enough. Great options for breakfast though, and a very nice staff.
