No hot water

I am a regular customer of Ibis Douala and I rarely complain of anything as I find in Ibis good service, great quality and what I need which is a place to rest and work for a couple of days per month. In my last trip I arrived at midnight and I noticed there was no hot water in the shower. It was not pleasant but I figured it was an exceptional event. This time I arrived at 2 am, tired and only wanting to take a shower to go to bed. Once more I had to conform to a tepid almost cold shower. I had a different room so it is not the room. An international hotel like Ibis must be able to cover the bare minimum which is sufficient hot water (hot, not tepid or cold). Breakfast has improved but quality has declined since last year. They had placed a wonderful coffee machine and variety of food was good. Machine has been broken for months and they keep serving two or three things that have not changed in a long time. I have been in wonderful Ibis hotels around the world and I hope Ibis Douala can improve. They have one the best staff service of Douala without any doubt. They are all kind, nice and always welcoming so it is a shame that something like cold water in a shower or simply improving breakfast can make a difference. I am not willing to keep paying what a room costs in Ibis if at least the hot water issue is not solved. I have to be in Douala every month and I do not think it is too much to ask to have a decent shower.

Losing its touch

As a regular customer of this hotel, I am disappointed to see a decrease in its quality. I stay in Ibis at least twice every 2 months but I had not returned due to covid restrictions. The restqurant has never been great. For almost 2 years I have been eating the exact same without any variation. However, they always had whatever they placed on the menu. This time I found myself eating whatever they could serve because they did not seem to have much. Breakfast was the reason why I came to this hotel the first time and I kept coming back because it was varied, fresh and just great. This time I had almost no other option but eggs, which I dont eat so my breakfast was bread with butter. Coffee machine broken. Really disappointing. Rooms still ok but I cannot understand that for this price I have to shower with cold water. First time it happens and it was not very pleasant to find out there was no hot water when I was already in the shower. Service is still great and probably the only reason why I could consider coming back but I am sincerely disappointed with what I saw.
