Dears, I would like to make a formal complaint regarding my recent stay at ibis Styles Linz. Unfortunately, the stay was extremely disappointing, mainly because of a serious problem with the air conditioning, which was not communicated to us at check-in. The room was advertised as having adjustable air conditioning. However, the air conditioning in our room simply did not work. When I reported this to the receptionist, she was unable to offer any solution and essentially just shrugged her shoulders. What is particularly frustrating is that we were not informed about the air conditioning problem when we checked in. This is especially unacceptable given that the temperature outside was around 33°C. Under these conditions, an air-conditioned room is not a minor convenience but an essential part of being able to sleep comfortably. We therefore had to sleep with the windows wide open. Unfortunately, the room was also facing the main road, despite the fact that we had specifically expected a room facing the courtyard. The hotel is located next to a major road, so the noise from passing cars throughout the night was considerable. As a result, we essentially did not sleep that night. We had to choose between an unbearably hot room with the windows closed and a noisy room with the windows open. What made the situation even more frustrating was the response the following morning. The receptionist on the morning shift simply confirmed that there was indeed a problem with the air conditioning on hot days. This means that the hotel was apparently aware of the issue, yet this information was not communicated to us before or during check-in. Had we been informed about the problem, we would at least have had the opportunity to make an informed decision about whether to stay at the hotel or request an alternative room/accommodation. Instead, we only discovered the problem after spending the night in completely unacceptable conditions. I find this particularly disappointing for a hotel operating under the ibis Styles brand and for a reservation where air conditioning and the room location were important factors. I therefore ask you to review this incident and provide an appropriate compensation for the severely disrupted stay. I would also appreciate an explanation as to why guests are not informed in advance when the hotel's air conditioning system is known to be unavailable during periods of very high temperatures.
