Check in great and well prepared. Room, good enough for a few nights. Quality of food was pretty good. Service only OK...... I went for dinner in a reasonably busy restaurant. By the time a got there, most Mains were served, and a few new tables arrived. I got greeted and offered a table. So far so good. I got presented the small but sufficient Menu ( I love it that you don’t have QR codes thanks for that) Welcome drink ordered...all good. When ordering the food, I went for the Prawns with mixed leaves and dried fruits as starter. I asked for it WITHOUT the dried fruit. I have a little allergy (nothing serious) but need to avoid some fruits otherwise I get a reaction (strawberries, blackberries etc.) When I received the salad, it was sprinkled with dried fruits. I told the service that I ordered without it but got somehow ignored. So, i picked what i was able to eat. Tasted alright. Main course....Flank steak 250g, Vegetables of the Day, Fries and Bearnaise I asked for no fries but perhaps with a fried egg. The service wasn’t sure if that could be done. He asked the kitchen, and they apparently couldn’t do it. Seriously??? The assumably trained chefs in the kitchen cannot do a fried egg??? That’s a joke. And surely, they had eggs in house. Simply too lazy. I was an executive chef for many years and if a guest asked for something than it would have been done. No question asked. Like it or not, I am a paying customer and i didn’t asked for something unreasonable. Nevertheless, the steak was nice, well cooked and the Bearnaise (tetra pack) was also good. Since I didn’t wanted fries, they gave me another plate of the salat with the same dressing as the starter and yet again dried fruits. The response of the service was, this are the vegetables. Then I had to argue with them that a salad is not a vegetable of the day. I took the salad of my Plate since I didn’t want to take the risk of a reaction. After a few minutes the service came to my table with a small piece of chicory and something else ( 50 gram max) I declined since I was almost done with my Steak. When I asked for the bill, I presented my membership card for the Premium points to be added to my account. I have been told to go to reception. I then said that this can be done in the restaurant (if not via IT then as service sequent by the staff) but the gentleman turned outride rude towards me. His Name was Ayub (please excuse if I misspelled). Maybe we were lost in translation. But mimics and gestures and body language are not difficult to understand. I am sure that here is a huge area of training to be covered. In the meantime, the other Gentleman in the Restaurant tried to fix the situation and went to the reception. The reception then added the points ( i haven’t seen my statement yet) and I already mentioned to her that I do not accept being treated like this by the staff. I wasn’t rude and only asked for a couple of simple requests. A real shame. The next morning the Checkout was friendly, prompt and quick. Great job. I went for a coffee at the restaurant and the gentleman at the desk was very friendly. Great start to the day. Thanks for that. Will I be back? When I am back in Brussels then I may. Currently more considering changing the Hotel Chain. Many thanks Tino

The standard of renovation and the bathroom facilities differed enormously from an identical room in the same price category.
