Set right on Singapore's ritzy Orchard Road, Pullman Singapore Orchard is where people, ideas, and cultures collide – in the best possible way. This isn’t just a place to stay; it’s a stylish social hub that sparks connection. With couture-inspired social spaces, Insta-worthy art installations and Orchard Road's only ‘beach club’, it’s the place to mix and mingle between shopping sprees and sightseeing.
If you’re going to do Singapore, you might as well do it in style - at least that was my thinking when I booked a solo weekend away in Singapore. True to its name, Pullman Singapore Orchard is set right on the city-state’s world-famous shopping street, a 2.2-kilometre stretch lined with high-fashion boutiques, department stores, mega-malls, and fine-dining restaurants.
The hotel is a hassle-free 20-minute taxi ride from Changi Airport, although it’s entirely possible to make the journey using Singapore’s efficient MRT system. The hotel is just a 5 minutes walk to Orchard and Somerset MRT stations. As my taxi turns onto Orchard Road and pulls up to the hotel, I can already feel the buzzing energy of Singapore’s premier shopping district.
Checking in at the couture-inspired lobby is a feast for the senses, with artsy light installations, chilled-out music, and a bright citrus fragrance that instantly signals you’re in for a great stay. It’s the kind of scent you wish you could bottle and take home. With its prime location on Orchard Road, the hotel is inspired by fashion.
With a bit of time to kill before my room is ready, the smiley receptionist directs me to the buzzing 4th floor, which turns out to be the hotel’s social hub. There’s a lot to love in the space, including neon art installations and a trippy illuminated walkway that unsurprisingly make quite a few appearances on my Instagram feed during my stay. It’s a world of vibrancy that provokes exchanges.
The walkway leads to all the action; the lush, atrium-style Eden Restaurant, the classy Atelier Bar & Lounge, the poolside P.S.O. Beach Club, as well as the exclusive The Archive Club lounge and the 24/7 fitness centre.
Since I’m in need of a refresher after a long travel day, I take a seat on one of the plush leather couches at Atelier Lounge & Bar, where I’m tempted to order a Nutty Lime Fizz cocktail off the All-Day Happy Hour menu. But it’s still early, so I opt for a flat white coffee, brewed to perfection; I’ll save the cocktails for later.
Locals love: From the moment you step into the Pullman Singapore Orchard, you’re immersed in a hub promoting exchanges, capturing the pulse of Orchard Road. It’s a social hub where you instantly feel connected. Whether you’re here to work, relax, or celebrate, the vibe is always upbeat and inclusive - a cosmopolitan blend of creativity, comfort, and connection.
The hotel features 326 rooms, including six room types and five spacious suites spread across 11 storeys. I've booked one of the popular deluxe premier rooms. Compared to the standard 26-square-metre decked out amenities’ Classic Rooms, my Deluxe Premier Room offers such cool perks as extra space and sweeping views of Orchard Road from the floor-to-ceiling windows.
The rooms bring the story of fashion and views of the city into the guest’s personal space. It’s the perfect setup for both work and leisure: the versatile seating area makes it easy to get work done, then it’s just as effortless to screencast a favourite show when it’s time to switch off. The bathroom is equally well considered, with a bidet for added comfort. The separate bathtub and rain shower are reserved for unwinding after tomorrow’s day of sightseeing.
However, even the most basic of rooms is stylish, forward-thinking and tech-savvy; think Nespresso machines with sustainable Italian coffee pods, custom C.O. Bigelow bath products, a 55-inch smart TV with screen casting, and in-room water filtration systems for unlimited clean drinking water. The water system is not only convenient, it cuts single-use plastic drinking bottles; rival hotels please take note.
Families wanting to spread out can book adjoining rooms, while business travellers can’t go wrong with one of the club residence rooms or suites, which give exclusive access to the free international breakfast buffet, all-day drinks and snacks, and evening cocktails and canapés in The Archive Club. They also have 12 different types of wines including premium champagne, as well as an extensive array of spirits, cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks.
While Pullman Singapore Orchard is surrounded by some of the best restaurants in this food-obsessed city, there’s no need to step outside the hotel to dine well. I start with the lavish breakfast buffet, which is served amongst the foliage in glasshouse-inspired, light filled Eden Restaurant from 6:30am until a very civilised 11am, perfect for late risers like me. From Asian classics to an omelette station, charcuterie board fixings, baked goods, and everything in between, the selection is impressive.
Eden Restaurant is open for all-day dining, and I make a dinner reservation after spying the creative Asian dishes on the menu. While the Tajima Beef Wagyu Striploin and Truffle-Infused Chicken Rice are tempting, I ultimately ordered the Hokkaido Scallop Ceviche and Plum Blossom Burrata Salad to start, followed by the Eden Style Laksa. Both are uniquely delicious and whipped up with flair in the open kitchen.
To fill in the gaps, Atelier Lounge & Bar also offers all-day dining, with comforting options ranging from Fish & Chips and an indulgent Croque Madame, to signature Atelier Cheese Burger, backed up with a solid cocktail menu and all-day happy hour that, incredibly, runs from midday until 11pm.
Ultimately, I take the final option and head out to Instagram-worthy P.S.O. Beach Club for a burger and some truly addictive Straight Cut Miso Pullman Fries in my poolside cabana. With the tunes playing and a party vibe kicking off as the day winds down, it’s hard to leave, so I stick around to watch the sun set with a Singapore Sling in hand.
Best hotel moment: Undoubtedly, P.S.O. Beach Club. As the sun sets, the pool glows in golden yellow, shifting the atmosphere from chill to celebratory. It’s the perfect spot for cocktails and wine.
As someone who always tries to keep my travels low-impact, I was pleasantly surprised to find Pullman Singapore Orchard delivering a genuinely green stay—through its Clean for Green programme, on-site hydroponics, recycling initiatives, and the removal of single-use plastics from the guest experience.
Instead of traditional plastic water bottles, there are two chilled reusable water bottles in the mini-fridge. The best part? They can be refilled using the filtered drinking water system in the bathroom. Having unlimited purified water to carry around while exploring hot and humid Singapore is a lifesaver. I also love that I don’t purchase a single plastic water bottle during my trip.
One of my favourite things about staying at Pullman Singapore Orchard is spending a Saturday afternoon chillaxing at P.S.O. Beach Club. The pool area offers a tropical beach club-style atmosphere with chic poolside cabanas, plush day beds and loungers, and Instagrammable duck and swan floats in the pool.
It’s an easy place to while away the hours, with food, cocktails and mocktails served at your cabana. I especially love the ambience when night falls, the mellow music starts, and the pool area is illuminated with romantic lighting (great even for those of us on a solo trip!).
Picture perfect: Guests love the pool - and for good reason. It’s Orchard Road’s only beach club-style escape, complete with photo-worthy cabanas, tropical vibes and a sun-drenched deck that feels more Bali than business district. Whether it’s a morning dip or golden hour lounging, the pool is a magnet for stylish relaxation and social snaps.
It doesn't matter if you're a solo traveller like me, a family visiting with young kids, or a business traveller in town for meetings, Pullman Singapore Orchard tempts all comers. If you appreciate stylish interiors, tech-savvy rooms, top-notch customer service, and unexpected food and beverage offerings, the hotel obliges. And of course, the Orchard Road location makes this an ideal home base for shopaholics.
Getting there: Pullman Singapore Orchard is set on Orchard Road and an easy 5-minute walk from the Orchard and Somerset MRT stations. Changi Airport is roughly 20 minutes from the hotel via taxi or one hour via the MRT.
