Be prepared to be impressed. Even the reception area at Novotel Valencia Lavant is striking, a modern urban oasis filled with Mediterranean plants and a fresh, vibrant atmosphere that captivates you from the moment you walk in. We fell for the place right away. That feeling only deepened in our welcoming guest room, where comfort meets smart, practical tech, and continued to grow as we explored the hotel’s contemporary spaces.
Everything about this hotel, from the stunning rooftop pool with its views over Valencia’s rooftops to the feel-good vibes of Papúa Valencia restaurant and the stylish, functional design of the meeting rooms, reflects modern design and thoughtful details. It’s a place that suits all travellers, from families to business guests and everyone in between.
And of course, when you're ready to explore the many charms of Valencia, just hop on the metro and you’ll be in the heart of the city in minutes.
Stepping into Novotel Valencia Lavant is a pleasant surprise. From the outside, its clean lines reflect simplicity and modernity, but inside, it's warm, comfortable and spacious. The lobby, bathed in natural light, is full of Mediterranean character, thoughtfully blended with cosmopolitan elegance and style. With local decorative touches and a palette of soft, soothing tones, the space invites you to linger from the very first moment.
From that point on, we knew we were in for a treat. Rest became an art form in our exceptional guest room, kitted out with all the latest tech and yet wrapping us with comfort. Everything was designed with clean lines, Mediterranean tones and thoughtful details, like sustainable amenities in the bathroom.
We loved the cool urban vibe of the place. We caught up with the latest local events over a horchata at the Espace Gourmet and a specialty coffee at the Coffee Lab, before trying the seasonal Mediterranean menu at Papúa Valencia, a dark-toned urban jungle filled with greenery where we celebrated our first night in the city. But the real highlight was hanging out at the rooftop pool. The Valencia skyline seemed to change by the hour, and as the city lights started to sparkle below us, we found ourselves surrounded by a cool crowd taking selfies. An unforgettable sunset. Some of the best curated cocktails in town. What else could you ask for?
So, first impressions? Novotel Valencia Lavant is the new place to be in Valencia, a place to spend the whole day, not just sleep. It’s a haven of peace and modernity in a fascinating, ready-to-be-discovered city. And yes, we will definitely be back.
"The big difference": The rooftop swimming pool and bar; our favourite Valencia destination for day and night with stunning views across the city to the sea.
In our eyes, nothing beats a good night’s sleep before a big day exploring a new city. We certainly got in some decent shut-eye at Novotel Valencia Lavant; designed by the prestigious Sundukovy Sisters, our guest room came with workspace, a smart TV (with lots of channels for family viewing) and a coffee maker. However, centre stage is occupied by the super-comfortable next-generation bed, all crisp white linens and supportive mattress.
You can shower or linger over a soak in the smart bathrooms, decked out in a soothing deep green, and we had a generous supply of eco-friendly toiletries – a handy touch if you’ve left something at home.
We’d recommend a suite or a spacious superior room for families to sleep in comfort, and also bagging a room on one of the higher floors, as the views over Valencia are simply breathtaking.
"The room we love": All the guest rooms offer the same cool blend of comfort and modernity – we particularly adored the new Novotel beds and understated bathrooms with marble basins.
We happily cruised through the day on the hotel’s foodie offerings, from the generous breakfast buffet – kickstarting our taste buds with local tomato bread – to the casual snacks served in the street-level Coffee Lab. When we tried out the seasonal Mediterranean dishes at the signature restaurant, Papúa Valencia, we adored the buzzy atmosphere as much as the creative seasonal cuisine. The place was packed with workmates relaxing after their meetings, couples sharing romantic moments and smartly dressed locals dining at a leisurely pace – it’s obviously a “go-to” spot for destination dining.
We quickly realised that the chic rooftop Sky Bar is the hotel’s best-kept secret. Open all year for regional tapas and signature cocktails, it’s simply perfect for the tardeo – the Valencian art of meeting up with friends and family at sunset. At this enchanting spot, guests and locals alike drift up to the rooftop to witness one of the city’s most spectacular sunsets – most with a glass of something sparkling in hand. And the magic certainly continues after dark, as we enjoyed exquisite sharing plates under the stars.
"Insider recommendation": Thanks to its gourmet Mediterranean cuisine, we think Papúa Valencia restaurant stands out as THE new culinary landmark in the city.
Just outside the hotel, we popped into El Corte Inglés department store for some shopping – don't miss their popular sales in January and early summer for some real designer bargains! However, our sightseeing adventure truly started at the extraordinary City of Arts and Sciences complex, a couple of stops away by metro. This Santiago Calatrava-designed one-stop entertainment centre will keep families and adults alike absorbed by beluga whales in the aquarium, 4D movies at the planetarium and interactive exhibits at the science museum.
We loved the Gothic/Baroque architecture of the cathedral, and the chance to sample local cheeses, cured meats and Valencian paella at the popular Mercat Central. We also made precious memories touring the Albufera lagoon, where paella rice is grown. We took binoculars to look for wading birds and spent hours pottering around rice fields to nearly deserted beaches… the highlight of our day had to be the boat ride through the reed-lined waterways.
The rooftop swimming pool is definitely one of the coolest places to be. It absolutely nails the wow factor. From our Balinese-style loungers, we enjoyed stunning panoramas of Valencia’s skyline where old meets new, while soaking up the sun. The views stretch from the Jardín del Turia all the way to the Mediterranean. And if you ever tire of the sights, nothing beats a refreshing dip followed by a creative cocktail or two, always enjoyed responsibly, at the Sky Bar.
“Sustainable style”: Everything is run on a lower-impact ethos at Novotel Valencia Lavant, so you can relax and enjoy your time here with a clear conscience.
"Good to know": We loved grabbing a speciality coffee from the Coffee Lab, where we chatted with hotel guests and locals alike.
