The Sofitel Kia Ora Moorea Beach Resort reopened its doors in 2026 following a complete renovation of its common areas and overwater villas. The property is located on the shore of a magnificent lagoon with views of the island of Tahiti. Commemorate your love to the ancient gods of the island in a Polynesian wedding ceremony a beautiful beach wedding you will remember forever. Moorea weddings at Sofitel are magical memorable and magnifique.
Rooms were great, the beach and snorkeling were amazing! Loved the convenience of being picked up. Service was generally awesome.
The only things making us question if we would come back are:
1) The food was below average, especially at this price point. Hard to imagine staying for a week and eating the same things
2) We went snorkeling from our bungalow and were locked out from the deck by housekeeping

Truly incredible! The staff made the stay. The guy who was on the omelette station each morning, 2 ladies who looked after us in the restaurant each night, and the very tall guy at the bar for cocktail hour. So so friendly!! We had a laugh with each of them and can honestly say our stay wouldn’t have been the same without these 4 people.

My husband and I were visiting French Polynesia for our honeymoon and visited Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora. Our stay at Sofitel was amazing, we got a garden bungalow villa and it was really spacious. Overall the room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the staff were all super friendly and accommodating. Our only negative experience was we got sick from the Polynesian night. We had a taste test of the roasted pig, some sweet potato and plantain before the buffet started and we think we got sick from the lady who was hand feeding multiple guests. Other than that, we got better within a couple of days and was able to enjoy the rest of the delicious food at the restaurants. The hotel is well located, near the airport and ferry and we booked two excursions with the hotel concierge Jean-Pierre who was super helpful and kind. We also enjoyed some of the activities like kayaking, ping pong and bocci, but wished there was a tennis court! Overall amazing stay and would definitely recommend!

My husband spent 3 nights here and we were blown away by the service, the food, and the beauty of the resort. The Sofitel Moorea is highly overpriced vs the received standards a Sofitel across the world usually delivers. The resort is far from being competitive to any other 4 star resort, and it's very important to manage expectations.
The overwater villas are nicely renovated, and provide a great reef for snorkeling. The head waiter at the breakfast is a lovely host, and with that, about all good aspects of the resorts are covered.
The other villas (not overwater) are torn down and poorly maintained. Despite the long distances, no buggy service is proactively provided. The food is at a super low quality and does not leave any good memories. The service is very cold, orders are often forgotten and require multiple reminders. The hotel is not responsive for any pre-stay communication. Airport transfers are forgotten and required follow-ups while waiting at the airport already. Despite highest loyalty status, no benefits are provided, no welcome gift or any other status recognition. It's a very transactional, cash-oriented resort without any customer orientation and clearly not worth the hefty fees you have to pay for the resort. Manage your expectations if you have stayed at other Sofitels before, but this resort is not comparable to any 4* resort.

From arrival to departure everything ran like clockwork. We stayed in room 403, a waterfront bungalow that was beautiful. The location couldn't have been more perfect, it was fully equipped with everything we needed with a bottle of champagne, fresh fruit and gifts on arrival. The food in the hotel was excellent, the staff were so kind, and so helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is stunning, incredibly clean, and in the best location on the island. We were made to feel so valued, we really didn't want to leave and wouldn't hesitate to come back one day.
