The hotel is situated near to the Parque de El Retiro with the del Prado and Reina Sofia museums within walking distance. Surrounding areas have an abundance of restaurants with a El Corte Ingles store just a stone's throw away. The area feels safe and the proximity of the park is great if you need your daily run fix. Room is basic but functional and things works. They only give you a small pocket tissue for the duration of the stay and the room does not come with body lotion. So in the colder and dryer months, bring your own to hydrate your skin. Staff are friendly. All in a good stay and nothing less than what I would expect of a Novotel.

Generally, all was good, but the room wasn't prepared for our child, but it was fixed after the additional request

Since Accor has no upscale hotels in Madrid left this was my choice for a one night stay in Madrid. Overall a decent experience with a pleasant and automatic upgrade. Hotels were on a premium on that night and this was one of the rare occasions where the Platinum guarantee was required for me to book a room. Check in was remarkably swift at the ALL counter. No credit card swipe or forms to fill in (Accor has all those details on record in any case and this should be the standard for premium guests). They immediately upgraded the room from Executive with terrace to Suite with terrace. Drinks voucher (beer or wine only) was also handed over without having to request it. The room was suitably large, a one room suite with a large living room and around the corner the bed and bathroom. There is no separation though between living and sleeping quarters. The bathroom was on the small side. The free minibar was somewhat underwhelming as it only contained two water bottles. The terrace was in fact a wrap around balcony with two seating areas (table and chairs). Nice to have the morning coffee in the Madrid sun. My only small complaint would be that neither of the two large TVs had any casting options. This really should be standard at hotels these days. I availed of room service in the evening (rather limited menu) but it hit the spot. Breakfast however is served in a rather soulless large room (more akin to a meeting room). A wide and decent choice (nothing cooked to order) but presented without any imagination or style (large plates on flat tables).

Clean but some staff very rude, and water only given on first day despite being advertised as a highlight of the hotel

Some staff were either rude or wonderful- nothing in between. The hotel advertises free mineral water but that is only provided on the first day- after that you are expected to buy water. That’s fine, but then don’t advertise the free mineral water. Pool was closed for weather but the temperature was 26C! All in all, not worth the cost and very is my not a 4star hotel.
