I recently had a business stay in the Ibis Almaty Jentsu. While suitable for a business trip, I did some comparisons with the adjoining Novotel part, which is located in the same building. The common areas are shared - yet the Novotel prices are significantly steeper and while the rooms are larger, I don't think that it's worth the upgrade, especially for a business trip. Here's my detailed feedback: Amenities: Ibis: Rooms are smaller and have simpler AC, lighting, and curtain systems. Unlike the Novotel, my Ibis room did not provide Bathrobes. These are the noticeable differences when choosing between the two sections. Fitness: There are only a few machines with no bench presses and a poor amount of free weights going up only to 14 kg. Food & Beverage: Breakfast: I stayed in the Novotel a couple of months ago and provided feedback on the breakfast and fitness facilities. Unfortunately, I found no improvements in either area during this stay. When you have a long stay in the hotel and try to eat healthy, eggs and cottage cheese are the most reasonable choice. The cottage cheese however was of low quality and had a certain unpleasant aftertaste. Coffee: The coffee machines produce weak espresso with low-quality beans. The machines are a bit slow and don't seem to roast the coffee properly. Positive note: I had a welcome gift - some fruits and sweets when I entered my room. I also had a birthday during my stay there and they surprised me with a set of 3 small pieces of cake which was a nice touch. Both of those were accompanied with a hand-written note. Overall, my stay at Ibis Almaty Jentsu was satisfactory for my business needs. I look forward to future trips, hoping to see the hotel's commitment to improving its amenities and services, and its responsiveness to guest feedback. This would certainly make it a more compelling choice for my next stay.
