The stay itself was fine. The room was comfortable and the staff was helpful. However, I believe I left something in the room and contacted the hotel a week ago to find out. The item was a gift from my daughter, and I was hoping to somehow get it back, even if it might cost me some money. I heard nothing from the hotel, so I sent a follow up. Here is the response I received: Bonjour, nous vous répondrons dès que nous aurons une réponse , Bien à vous, laura I don't see how it can take a week to find out if an item was left in a room. As a member of your loyalty program, I'm not at all happy with the follow-up.

I have posted photos to confirm my review. The room was filthy. You. Outdoor hardly move when using the toilet. The balcony was covered in cigarette stubs. We are non smokers so not put there by us. Contacted Mercure after my return to the uk but still no reply 7 months later.

Staff very nice. Room was clean. We did have their breakfast for 18 Euros. This is unusual to have breakfast two days in a roll in a hotel but they did have a nice selection. A 5 -7 minute walk to Gare du Nord to get our train to Amsterdam. Wish I could think of the young man's name who was there when we came in after a day of touring and who checked us in. Very interesting, polite and interested in your day and what your plans are for the rest of your trip. The reason for the 9 rating was they did not have a full bar and lounge area like most Mercures. We enjoy a night cap before retiring. This is a smaller Mercures compared to others we have stayed in but just as pleasant. Would stay here again
