Not up to Mercure standards

Lobby receptionists often were hiding in the back room and having private conversations which could be heard from the lobby. For other guests that drove, parking seemed limited as the receptionist would often flippantly let them know there were no parking spaces. Thankful we didn't drive because I wouldn't know what to do with such unhelpful service. Room was extremely dim, and shower area also has no lights. WiFi was very terrible, could not get a stable connection for more than a minute and ended up using my data for the duration of the trip. Bed sheets were also not changed daily. For the price we paid, experience was not up to our expectations for Mercure. We have stayed at Mercure in Tokyo and Melbourne before, and the experience was excellent. Good points: Room was decent sized, and beds were okay. Provided bath amenities, but lacked room slippers. Walkable to Esplanade, but not the nearest.

Dear S., Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Firstly I apologies for any inconvenience caused during your stay. Our reception team will be available through the whole day at the desk. Sometimes there may be cases were they need to attend to othe guest requests and leave the desk unattended for few minutes. There will be a sign put up at the front desk when they have to attend to such requests. I am not sure what you mean by you heard private conversations, but to keep you informed the back office is not for private use as the management and admin tasks are being done in there. However, I will for sure investigate on this and make sure proper standards are used in such cases. Our car parking is paid parking and yes we got limited space available. If you heard my team saying its not available is because it is fully booked. But you always have the option to use the street car park which is free on availability. We apologies if you felt our service was not helpful, in such cases there's not much we could do but offer alternative street parking to our guests. Our rooms are designed to have low lighting, but you always have the option the use the bed side lamps which will brighten the room more. I'm not sure what you mean by there's no lights in the shower area. We checked your room and the lights do work in the washroom. Are you referring to a light inside the shower cubicle? I do agree wifi has been an issue during the past few days, we have already contacted our IT team to rectify the issue and get it fixed as soon as possible. We usually do not change bed linen everyday, but if you wish to do so, you need to put in the tag "Change bedsheets" and housekeeping will change it for you. Or you can even inform reception to get it done. Again I do apologies if this has caused you an inconvenience during your stay and we do apologies if we haven't met your standards and expectations. As a Diamond Accor member, you tend to have a level of expectations. I probably should have stayed in a different hotel - but it was only one night so I wasn't too worried... There were no welcome gifts, and I severely doubt that my room was upgraded - even though the hotel was under 50% occupied. Seemed pretty standard to me - on level 2, halfway down the hall with a view of the carpark. At the bar - they had run out of the house Sav Blanc - and only served a low-alcohol Pinot Grigio as the ONLY choice of white wine. WTF? My dinner meal (lamb shanks) was ok - but very tiny - I had to go to Hungry Jacks after dinner. I decided to buy a decent bottle of wine so bought a Woodfired Red from the bar. I didn't check the price but by the look of the bill, it must have cost around $60. The cost at Dan Murphys is currently $19 - $15 on special. I know that Accor have a contract with De Bortoli - I assume that bottle probably cost you $12-$15. I'm sorry - but a 400% mark-up seems excessive to me... Especially as the bartender didn't have to pour single glasses etc - he just handed over the bottle? On the bright side - the staff were very friendly, and the room was clean and acceptable for the price.

Was not satisfied with the room. Being a Gold member was expecting a few more amenities. Would love to be asked for a upgrade . Room needs slippers , laundry bags . A/c was working but not very well.

I would have rated higher but the aircon needs servicing and the person above very noisy walking around in shoes. No food available as Sunday nite -recommendations of takeouts. No herbal teas
