I have used Ibis hotels a lot for short city breaks, always been happy with the rooms and locations, booked this hotel for a city break in Luxembourg, OK hands up I should of done due diligence on where the hotel was actually located, it was located slap bang in the middle of the red light district ( who new Luxembourg had a red light district, clearly not me 😂). So location was shocking, advertised as having parking, which was optimistic to say the least, it was a small underground garage with about 4 spaces, so was told by receptionist I would have to park at the multi storey car park next to the station. We get the keys and go up to the room, the room was not like other Ibis here’s I had stayed in before, the room was shabby the bed had a were thin mattress, a stone floor would of been softer. Whilst we’re desperately browsing hotel web sites to book a better hotel in a nicer part of the city, we could hear a person in the room next door having a chat on the phone and we could hear every word. I have a hunch that they also might rent the rims out by the hour🙁 and if we had actually stayed we probably would have heard more than just a phone conversation. Any way we booked another hotel, this hotel I had booked for 2 nights, the receptionist agreed to re emburse me for the 2nd night, but first night was not refundable. The receptionist was very pleasant and polite and understanding of why we didn’t want to stay ( I suspect this was the first time he had this conversation with arriving customers). So unless your looking for a payment induced happy ending, look elsewhere.
