Having worked as an air hostess in my younger days and staying at many hotels around the world I would say, the Reef House was almost the best for service, they could not do enough for you. The food was divine. The pool was so beautiful. You Will adore the tropical feel and I could almost feel Ernest Hemingway sitting in a chair reading somewhere near.

When you book a 5-star hotel, you have certain expectations about amenities, room, etc. While the room had a very comfortable bed and hotel a good restaurant, there were a lot of frustrating aspects that does not come close to 5 stars. The rooms are in major need of updating - especially the bathrooms where the shower is tilted so close to the front you are basically facing the wall to get wet. The window in the bathroom has gaps in it which let in bugs at night. We had to keep the bathroom door closed. The safe to the room is on the top shelf of the closet, making it difficult to reach and basically impossible to see into. There are no drawers to put clothes. Breakfast was annoying because we had to make reservations which did book up - yet they talk about having a relaxing stay. We had an early morning excursion and they couldn't provide us with breakfast to go - not even simple toast or breads. They don't have laundry service. And one of their dryers was broken. So for 4 hours we were going back and forth changing things over and resetting time on the dryers because they were terrible. Not something we wanted to be doing during dinner or after a full day of excursions. At the spa, facials were good but massages were terrible. And to top it off, we used the hotel service to book transfers to our excursions. We asked them to cancel one of the transfers and they cancelled the wrong one! No one was at the front desk to help us or tell us why our ride hadn't arrived. No taxis were available and we ended up getting into the wrong car where when the driver realized we were the wrong people, yelled at us and threatened to drop us off on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere! It was literally the worst experience we've ever had traveling and all the hotel did was give us a bottle of wine (one which we already had from checking in). Absolutely inexcusable and not even close to being worthy of 5 stars.

Our fourth visit to the Reefhouse did not disappoint. The warm welcome that we received from Cedric and team made us feel that we had arrived home . From that moment our wonderful relaxing stay evolved …a beautiful room overlooking the cool pool and garden . Cocktails, cultural talks and wine tasting were enjoyed along with the wonderful food and hospitality from the restaurant staff . We loved our stay and count the days until we visit again

Just had the most relaxing holiday ever, the staff were so welcoming and friendly. The whole experience was amazing and can definitely recommend. Really enjoyed our terrace room beside the pool area, meals were delicious and the service I have never had better.

Excellent cuisine, breakfast and dinner were great. The team at the hotel works perfectly. Good experience with possibility use bikes for lovely bike trips in the sorrounding of Palm Cove. Interesting wine course and interactive coctail classes as welll. Great place for relaxation.
