In a modern, Art-deco ambience, the B'ARTISTE is the ideal spot to enjoy a glass of wine selected by our sommelier. The musical atmosphere and peaceful alcoves are perfect for a moment of relaxation away from it all.

Chic Comfort in Lyon: A Stylish Stay with Room for Improvement

TripAdvisor rating 3.0/5

SoloStays Solo travel - TripAdvisor review

Nestled in Lyon's upscale shopping district, this hotel offers a delightful blend of luxury and convenience. Surrounded by designer boutiques and gourmet restaurants, the historic architecture of the neighborhood adds to its charm. Perfectly situated at the corner of Place des Jacobins, it is a mere 5-minute stroll from the Bellecour metro stop and a 25-minute walk from the Part-Dieu train station. The lobby, though intimate, exudes charm with its quaint seating areas and a reception that doubles as a cozy bar. This hotel is ideal for those seeking a functional yet stylish stay in the heart of Lyon. A commendable partnership with a hospitality college provides work placements for students, fostering a sense of community despite occasional inefficiencies—check-in, for instance, took 15 minutes despite three staff members being present. The hotel features a single, small lift servicing all floors, which may result in brief waits but encourages the use of the stairs. As a loyalty member, my room, though not upgraded, was converted into a privilege room, complete with the expected amenities. The room, while not expansive, was generously sized by French city standards. However, a lingering musty odor detracted from the overall experience. The bed, centrally positioned, was exceedingly comfortable, with an array of pillows to choose from. Adequate plug points and versatile lighting options were conveniently located by the bedside. The room included a small table and chairs for working, along with a fridge and tea/coffee facilities typical of the Mercure brand. Unfortunately, the WiFi was neither robust nor speedy, averaging around 12 Mbps. The bathroom, though sufficient, lacked adequate shower pressure. A small balcony provided a charming view of the square and its beautiful fountain, though it was only large enough to stand on. In conclusion, this hotel offers a functional stay with the potential for elegance, should the bedrooms receive some thoughtful updates.

Staff were lovely and helpful. A few issues with ac and plastic mattress cover. Would have been great to have a nicer bar area. Basically you are drinking in reception space. But location made up for this. Easy to reach all the sights and shops.

Dear Sir M., The Beaux-Artistes team would like to thank you for taking the time to leave us your review ! We understand your comment about the air-conditioning, unfortunately our air-conditioning system is a general system for the entire hotel, and given the changeable weather we were forced to change modes regularly. We are therefore very sorry that this inconvenience affected your stay. We are nevertheless delighted that you enjoyed the professionalism and helpfulness of our team. Thank you again for sharing your experience with us, and we hope to see you again in our establishment. Sincerely, Remi Martignago - General Manager

The hotel is perfectly located to explore Lyon on foot and by public transport. Our Privilege room was very spacious and well appointed. The daily breakfast was first class and catered for nearly all tastes. Our only small complaint was that the room was too hot at night and made sleeping difficult. When we asked why this was so we were informed that the cooling system had not yet been switched on to summer settings. We were offered a fan to help but this did very little to help.

Dear Alan, Thank you for your feedback and for choosing to stay with us. We're glad to hear that you enjoyed our hotel's prime location and the spaciousness of our Privilege room, as well as the breakfast. We apologize for any discomfort caused by the room being too warm at night. Our heating and ventilation system is centralized, and unfortunately, we are unable to provide both heating and cooling simultaneously. Given the uncertain weather conditions during your stay, we made several adjustments to the system, including turning it off and then back on. We're sorry to read that this affected your comfort negatively. Your comments are valuable to us, and we appreciate your understanding. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future for a more comfortable experience. Sincerely, Rémi MARTIGNAGO - General Manager

A destination and hôtel I like to go. Well located and nicely decorated. Although, each time this hôtel blocks the pre-reservation guarantee amount on credit cards, and keeps it blocked for a month. Don't have this for other hotels of the Accor group. Even, when mentioning it to the hôtel.

Dear Sir A., Thank you for taking the time to share with us your comments about your stay in our establishment. We are pleased to know that you like the attractive locality and the decoration of our hotel. Regarding your mention of the deposit taken during check-in, we apologize for any inconvenience caused by the delay in its release, which may have been attributed to the occurrence of bank holidays. Rest assured, the release of the deposit is automated through our software. We would appreciate it if you could verify its release on your end. We hope to welcome you again for a future stay in Lyon. Sincerely, Rémi MARTIGNAGO - General Manager
