The hotel was beautiful. There were a couple of negatives and some great positives as follows:
Pros:
1, Hotel room was big and comfortable.
2. Water bottles provided were a wonderful bonus
3. Property was lovely
4. Pool was not overcrowded.
5. The food at Brown’s market was good.
6. I had left a message that I was celebrating my son’s 18th birthday. They brought us the most amazing cupcakes I have ever had With a happy 18th label in chocolate. It was a wonderful touch.
Cons:
1. I arrived early. I was told room would be ready soon and was given a key and told I would receive a text. I waited til 4pm and had to go to the text to get my room assignment,, which apparently had been ready.
2. When I received my bill there was a “room charge” and a $1,50 food charge. I called about the charges to find what they were for. I was told the room charge is the charge for the room, however I thought. The original taxes and fees I paid are the charge for the room. The $.50 was removed from my charges which I believe was a tip for the cupcakes and I really did not want removed, but they kept the room charge. I am still wondering what that charge is for. I really hate unexplained charges to my bill and found this really frustrating.
3. The pool Wawa’s just okay an not as nice as most of the pool facilities on Maui where I live.

In short, my past Fairmont experiences and those of similar in the same class/category, was one of high customer friendliness, respect and attention to detail.
This property was in a word—-tattered and old. Many of the staff members were disinterested, aloof and at moments rude. This also includes the leased stores.
I’m not looking for outrageous over the top things. I’m talking about common courtesy and general facility maintenance/upkeep.
This does NOT mean all. The staff at restaurant/bars were some of the best. The front desk and consierge were top notch. Just the general feeling a hotel in this category was missing including the pool area.
In understanding that the hotel is undergoing some renovations as well as difficulty in staffing(I assume) as I own businesses myself and am understanding. Maybe an app and robots may allow for improvement in those personnel that are left to increase their attention.

Too expensive for what we paid. It didn’t feel like a luxury stay at all. I’d expect lot more value for every day stay. Too many resort fees per day and it was hurricane season so we couldn’t really use much of it anyways

Was such a great stay! Made us feel very welcome upon arrival and did small special things to recognize my boyfriend’s birthday. Exceptional room service and great room, even got upgraded! And probably lucked out on the time of year we visited but felt like we had the resort to ourselves bc no one was there. Definitely will be returning one day :)

With the Hale Kai closed, we found evening meals challenging. (we used to enjoy getting Hale Kai take out.) Tried the in room service and found it very expensive. Being older, the other options at the resort were not really our style, though we have enjoyed Browns many times. The big surprise was when we came into contact with one of the resorts cats. (we assume they are the resorts as we have seen them being fed early in the morning on many of our visits) We had three days and nights of intense itching from flea bites all over our legs. (it was the black cat that hangs out on the point by Browns). On a more positive note, as often as we come, (this was visit 13) we have made some very goods friends at the Fairmont. One of our very favorites is Amin who we always see at the beach. We are not complainers, but this trip did have some surprises.

Exceeded expectations! Friends got married on site. Originally looking to stay off-site for cost savings, but discount code provided via wedding couple incentivized us to stay and very happy with this decision! Exceeded expectations! I stayed at the hotel because a relative was having a wedding there. It was extremely expensive in every aspect so it was a bit disappointing on that level. It is a beautiful setting though.

The hotel has had some nice refurbishments made, but there are a number of areas that are in desperate need of updating. The shower mixing valves in both rooms my family occupied (2634, 2645) were basically non functioning. The temperature of the water was not changeable. It started out cold and would eventually get hot ... too hot at some points in time. The wooden lounge beds at the ocean (which are a paid amenity, not included in the room) had rusty nails sticking up proud of the wooden slats. I should have taken a photo - it was quite appalling. The carpet near the stairs that lead from the main reception area to the North Tower is stained, dingy, and in need of a serious cleaning or replacement. Our stay was pleasant, but the customer service received was far from the level we've experienced at this property in the past. Admittedly our last trip was in 2019 (pre-Covid). The service was noticeably poorer, even though the hotel occupancy was very low at the time of our visit.

Hello there! I want to start by saying I absolutely love Fairmont properties (San Francisco, Sonoma, Bermuda, and more). We were disappointed in the Fairmont Orchid - mainly the food/service/amenities. We ordered room service one evening and it took >1hr and 40 min to arrive and seemed outsourced and VERY low quality. Additionally, drink service by the pool was incredibly slow and the amenities quality (pool chairs, beach chairs, etc) was low compared to competitors in the same exact price range. Overall, we enjoyed the cleanliness of our room but were greatly disappointed in the property for the price point.

Very helpful and friendly porter, valet and front desk staff. Rooms are larger and more comfortable than a lot of other hotels.
Dined at Binchotan and the food was great. The hurricane fries delicious. The pizza we ordered was very good and arrived piping hot.
Liked that the pool is open 24/7 and went for late night swim when it was less crowded. Pool towels was easy to get from a cabinet by using your room key. Overall, we had a great time.
