Grand Mercure Okinawa Cape Zanpa Resort 5 stars

The clean and spacious facilities, complimentary lounge access, and renovated swimming pool were excellent for family travelers. However, the limited food and beverage options, lack of room service, insufficient explanation of Platinum member benefits, and absence of proper priority access during check-in were disappointing.

I stayed at Grand Mercure Okinawa Cape Zanpa Resort again for a three-generation family trip to celebrate my father-in-law’s 70th birthday. We booked two rooms, and as an Accor Diamond member, both were upgraded to Executive Western Style Rooms. This helped a lot, especially with children and grandparents. Compared with my stay in August 2024, this visit was clearly better. We visited just before Golden Week, so the hotel was not as crowded as peak summer season, and the atmosphere felt more relaxed. What I liked The Diamond member benefits were useful. Breakfast still had some waiting time for regular guests, but Platinum and Diamond members were able to enter without waiting. The Executive Lounge was clean and quiet. During breakfast, there was a juicer, so we could make fresh juice with the fruits provided. At night, the light food served from 9 pm was good too, especially the baguette, which was soft and tasty. There was also a small kids’ lounge area. The front desk was much smoother than my last visit. In 2024, communication sometimes took time because staff used translation apps often. This time, the front desk staff spoke English well. The pool area also improved. The new lazy river made it more fun for kids. The weather was not very warm yet, but the heated water made swimming comfortable enough. I also liked the 500 yen coupon when skipping room cleaning. It could be used at the shop near the front desk, and my kids enjoyed using it for a small prize machine there. Could be better The final room check before check-in could be improved. When we first entered one of our rooms, the toilet did not seem to have been fully checked, and there was some visible staining. After we reported it, the staff came to clean it after about one or two hours. I understand these things can happen, but for a resort hotel, I hope the room inspection can be a little more careful. The Executive Lounge was good, but some snacks from the 1st floor lounge were not available there. For kids, the 1st floor lounge was actually better in some ways. Also, the Accor welcome drink selection looks smaller than in 2024. Last time, there were more choices, including energy drinks. The breakfast and dinner were generally fine, but the menu felt almost the same as my 2024 stay. It would be nice to have a bit more variety, seasonal items. One small issue was the TV. The room had a nice TV, but YouTube and screen mirroring were not available. HDMI also did not seem to work, although I am not completely sure. Overall, this was a much better stay than my last visit. There are still a few things to improve, especially housekeeping checks and food variety, but I still think this is a good resort for families. I would visit again.

We had an awesome stay for 4 nights. The pools, slides and hotel facilities are good. The only issue is the hotel buffet is very expensive if you don’t book the all inclusive package. Free drinks between 3pm and 6pm and 9pm to 11pm which you don’t need to book the all inclusive rate for. The pizza restaurant was a bit random, kept putting signs up they were open till 8.30pm but it was never open after 6pm. Pools open late on Friday and Sat and during peak holiday periods, it’s a shame they aren’t open late every night. All in all a good hotel suitable for families or couples.

This could be an amazing hotel if it just had better management. Things were off time not quite on schedule. Most of the staff was good but they needed more support. Breakfast buffet seems to close earlier and earlier everyday. Things that were said to be offered were not in executive lounge. Good management team or leader would help this be a great place to return.
