Everyone who worked there was extremely friendly and went above and beyond to make sure we were enjoying our stay. The location was seconds away from Granville st and within walking distance of so many attractions like bars, stop clubs, shopping and delicious food. Only downside is the walls are pretty thin and you are in the heart of downtown so you can hear everything, bring ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper

While I understand that the Belmont is housed in an older building, I wasn’t expecting the interior to feel this dated. The rooms had a noticeable odor—strongly musky and moldy. I requested a room change because the first room was particularly bad, but unfortunately the second room also had a lingering stench. Noise was another major issue. Music was blasting at street level throughout the night, making it feel as though we were staying above a nightclub. Being on the second floor likely made this worse, but it was disruptive enough to significantly affect sleep. The room itself was small and only superficially clean—definitely not to the standard I would expect from Accor or a 4-star hotel. Vents had visible dust buildup, carpeting throughout felt tired, and there were many dirty nooks and crannies. I also noticed mold along the window sill. The TV was not smart, which limited viewing options, and there was very little surface space to put personal items. The drawers under the bed were dusty and impractical for a short stay. As an Accor Gold member, I appreciated the welcome drink and box of chocolates. However, the bottle of wine provided was a cheap, overly sweet blended wine that I ended up leaving behind. An upgrade to a better room might have been a more thoughtful gesture, although based on what I saw on the second floor, I’m not convinced any room would have met expectations. The staff, to be clear, were very kind and professional. They can’t change the building itself. That said, the photos online are extremely deceiving—the hotel looks far better in pictures than it does in reality. I will not be staying here again.
