Overall we had great and comfortable stay. We found the check in process a little annoying as it was hard to tell who was next in the queue. The service in the lobby bar was very slow and twice we had to go up, which is a pity considering the price of drinks. The food at dinner in the Carriage Bar was delicious, as was breakfast. The breakfast set up though is a bit chaotic. We did really enjoy the room and probably would stay again.

The estate is beautiful, there is no doubting that. We stayed in a King bedroom and it was just ok. For the price per night I would of expected more luxury. The heating in the rooms is brutal, no instructions on how to use. We had a baby in the room so it was a worry all night long, there is also a very bright light on the control unit which is very distracting. Then the old end of the hotel is freezing, there were blow heaters in the front reception area. Just not 5* standard. The price of food and drink was extortionate, and the quality of the food wasn't worth the price. We had toasties for lunch and there was zero flavour. The pool was also freezing! I really don't think we will be back.

As a whole it was a disappointing visit. The check in process is too long winded our receptionist hadn't good enough English to be working at reception in a hotel that is trying to be five star but is nowhere near it. The hotel, and pool area were freezing the hot tub should be renamed the luke warm tub, a lot of the locks in the pool locker room are broken and damaged. The service was very poor from simple things like drinks being served to the table without a beer mat or paper coaster to staff not interacting with guests when they arrived for dinner etc. Breakfast served in the carriage house can be best described as an unorganised and badly managed disaster. No cooked breakfast most of the buffet foods were tepid and stodgy, two of my coffee cups were dirty and the waiter who served us on the Saturday morning was untidy and his uniform trousers was absolutely filthy and hadn'd been washed in a considerable time.

All fantastic with one exception. Ordered taxis 1 hour before they were required. When we arrived into reception there was no sign of taxi, approached girl at reception, who didn't look up and I felt like I was interrupting her. I asked her to check up taxi. She told me to wait over by sofas and she'd see. Ten minutes passed as I watched her do absolutely nothing while our dinner reservation was now upon us. I asked her again and she very reluctantly picked up the phone to ask where it was. When I asked her why she had completely ignored my initial request and as a result we were late for dinner she feigned being upset so I left it. The gentleman who I originally ordered taxi from actually came to find me to see if I was OK, gorgeous member of your staff as were every other person we met with one exception. She shouldn't have been front of house if she wasn't wiiling to take care of our questions.
