We have visited many times..overall the hotel is lovely & relaxing..our teasons to return regularly. We have noticed continued positive improvements with customer service eg. More streamlined, professional etc, moving of breakfast to carriage house, Carriage house improvements for dinner and service. Morrison Rms closed this time but fabulous, stunning experience here on a number of occasions plus new whiskey bar was luxurious. On this visit heat not regulated/working ..heaters in rm. Were not informed in advance but resolved on Day 2 when we mentioned it. Beautiful rm. Noticeable negative this time was the extortionate price increase for a glass of champagne at bar..eg..approx 60e for 2 single glasses..the glass of Rose costing 36 euros alone. A more reasonable price would allow guests opportunity to enjoy but on this occasion left a sour taste for us. As mentioned some really noticeable positive improvements in each visit recently, some excellent customer service, lovely continuity between hotel, Carriage House, Morrison Rooms & Whiskey Bar. Long may it continue.

Check in was pleasant. Room comfortable especially the bed. Bathroom was a disappointment. No bath and only overhead shower. No hand held option. Had to phone reception for shower caps. Delighted to see the large toiletries instead of the small plastic bottles. However, our towels and bathrobes were all replaced on the second morning despite being hung up. My swim caps were in the bath robes. Had dinner in Kathleen’s Kitchen and the Carriage House. Enjoyed both especially Kathleen’s Kitchen. Very pleasant service. Unfortunately, I’m afraid that breakfast on both mornings was disappointing. I remember when we stayed before breakfast was in the Morrison Room. Breakfast service was poor, unfriendly and no attention to detail. The host barely acknowledged us except to ask for our room number and show us to the table. We then had to try and get someone’s attention to ask for tea and coffee. No teaspoons on the table or side plates on the buffet table. Had to ask for the natural yogurt to be replenished and waited about 15 mins for this. Asked for a coffee refill which we didn’t receive and left after 20 minutes. Carton House is a destination hotel and breakfast is supposed to be a very enjoyable start to the day where a warm welcome and the ‘Cead Mille Failte’ is very important and memorable. We went into the Boutique where we were very warmly welcomed and told about the local history. A lovely lady who is very proud of the House and locality. A breadth of fresh air. Staff in the Wellness centre also very pleasant.

I recently stayed for one night with my mam as a birthday present. I can honestly say it was such a lovely stay. From the moment we set foot inside to the moment we left , every staff member was kind friendly and went above and beyond for us. The hotel is magnificent. This was my first time at Carton House and we are already planning our next return.
