For feedbacks sake: we liked the hotel, the grounds are gorgeous and so is hotel overall. We showed up at Carriage House for dinner 1 night and were told it was closed. Just barely got in fancier recent, 1 time slot left. Otherwise, Nowhere to eat. Why arent guests of hotel told this? When you clise for a function, hotel guests are not informed and expecting to be able to eat there. Then when we moved to fancy restaurant, half of it was closed and with every sip, the group increased volume to the point of screaming at each other. Sure took away from the romance of our anniversary. We were so disappointed in both of these situations. We didn't rent a car so were prepared to eat there every night. Just wanted to pass it a long. Why not update it on the carton house screen on tv or note under doors etc?

Food average. Check on slow. Service slow. Breakfast was decent but below what you see in similar level London hotels. For a fairmont I was disappointed.

The grounds and hotel are beautiful. However it’s clear from our experience that the hotel is there to cater to golfers, corporate events etc more so than people staying for a simple hotel break. We stayed for two nights over a weekend in June and were surprised that at check in there was zero effort made to inform us of the amenities of the hotel and estate or the activities on offer. Our room was nice but on the corridor it was clear at least 10 bedrooms were being set up for some corporate event and therefore the staff in that part of the hotel were only focused on this. To the point that our room was not made up on the Sunday with fresh towels etc until we had to request it at 5.30pm! The phone in our room didn’t work so we had to walk to reception to ask for fresh towels. The response from reception was surprising too as they simply asked my why I hadn’t mentioned sooner that the phone wasn’t working and offered no apology for the room not being made up! The leisure centre is sub standard for a 5 star resort and there is no luxury feel to it. The team there would not give us robes and told us to go back and get the robes in our rooms. The food at breakfast is tasty but the service and set up are messy. On multiple occasions we had to ask staff for clean bowls/plates etc as there were none left at the buffet. Walks around the grounds are nice and we enjoyed a meal at the Carriage House but would overall not recommend this hotel.

A very good overall experience. Room was to a high standard, it was not clear if the water in the fridge (computerised) came with the room or if there was a charge attached. Also I ordered two ‘amaretto sours’ in the bar at €18 each. The server did not make up enough for two drinks and made up the difference with ice for one of them. As I was at a family wedding I didn’t complain at the time but I was disappointed ( at €18), not very respectful.
