Made to feel embarrassed

I checked in with my family on 15th Feb in morning having caught an overnight flight from Manchester, England. I arrived at the hotel at approx. 9am where the check in staff (male) was rude and patronising. He told me I had arrived to early for my check-in. I was clearly aware of this but my past experience of staying with a luxury hotel has been different. As standard I have been offered the use of the facilities and access to breakfast often without charge with an effort to make the room available as early as possible. I appreciate room availability depends on occupancy rates and check out. In this instance I was told there was nothing the hotel could do an I would have either sit in reception or go for a long walk around Doha. Eventually, I was told I could to the restaurant. As soon as I walked through the door and was seated at my table one the waiters was obliged to tell me I would have to pay for breakfast which truth be told I thought would be complimentary. The waiter was constantly asking me if I was going to pay in front of other guests like I did not have the means to pay. It was a really embarrassing experience especially when you are tired and with your family. Eventually when I was shown to my room the room was so small there was no space for a extra children's bed which was specified in the reservation. After raising this issue I was moved to another room only to find out the toilet was not working and the room was overlooking a construction site with constant noise. I have had the good fortune of staying in many luxury hotels but unfortunately this is not a memorable experience for the good. It is by far one of the worst experiences I have had.

Stunning hotel but service a bit lacklustre due to start of Ramadan

Beautiful hotel but I was surprised how lacklustre the service was. I think the management and team were distracted by the start of Ramadan and planning for the major Iftar celebrations. We were very comfortable participating in the spirit of Ramadan but would have appreciated more communication regarding how to manage ones day during this period (enjoy the night time) and also a bit more choice of food. Easy things could have been done to improve our experience i.e. guide to Qatar during start of Ramadan.
