Dirty socs in clean bed?

Throwing back the covers there were someone else's dirty socks in my 'clean bed'. The response from the duty manager was dismissive 'we will tell housekeeping'. so I deposited the dirty socs on their desk - then they agreed! Frankly its disgusting and makes you wonder about their attitude to clients. Note there is no ability to write in a complaint on their website.

Will make alternative arrangements in future!!

First of all, All the staff were excellent!! Traffic a nightmare around 5.00pm! Room? no desk for work! No chair in room! Only one bed side shelf for alarm as the bed only just fits in the room. Bathroom door opens outwards due to small bathroom!! avoid room 301 Trapped finger when closing bathroom door as the handle has been placed too close to door edge, great!! Previously stayed all over the country (including Mercure) Holiday Inn , Hilton, Premier Inn and even Travelodge and never had such a poor room experience.

This is a lovely hotel in a great location with a superb team in the forefront of the operation. The hotel can be found on the banks of the Great Ouse River with some stunning views of the town and countryside beyond. I found the hotel’s team to be exceptional providing tremendously professional, friendly, efficient customer service and hospitality throughout my stay and always striving to ‘go that extra mile’ to assist guests have the finest stay possible. I stayed in a superior room which was larger than the average UK hotel room and was superbly decorated and presented together with being well maintained. The room benefited from a superb modern large screen television, the Wi-Fi was fast and reliable, the rooms easy chair was extremely comfortable and a great desk to work at and to enjoy a coffee made in the rooms nespresso machine. The en-suite bathroom was modern in décor, the shower was powerful and the towels fluffy with some lovely complementary toiletries. The bar provided guests with a wide selection of drinks including some local craft ales. The only disappointing aspect of the stay for me was the eat as much as you like buffet breakfast, the cold buffet selection was very limited for a Mercure hotel, the hot buffet was in places very good including the scrambled eggs and sausages yet the bacon was overcooked and cold as were the mushrooms and hash browns with staff doing nothing to resolve the issue as they said it was out of their hands. The Mercure Bedford Central is a wonderful hotel and I highly recommend this brilliant hotel to all.

Friendly, polite service from Mohan. Check in was quick and efficient after a long day travelling. Super cosy room and comfy bed. Nice atmosphere as soon as we walked in. Easy access from Luton airport. Can’t fault! Thankyou for having us!!!

Such a lovely hotel with beautiful view of the river and bridge. Remalia was on reception and she gave us such a warm welcoming, she was very professional but also so friendly and nice . Very clean also and able to adjust room temperature so not cold .
