I booked an overnight stay to break up a drive between Sydney and Melbourne, and sent a message asking if parking was included. I didn't get an answer to the enquiry and when I arrived and looked through my emails, I realised I didn't even get a confirmation notification. I was unsure if I even had a booking, and I couldn't find the entrance to the car park, either. I had to park on the street, and then drag my heavy luggage in and up to the room myself, as there was nobody available to help. From the moment I sat down, I could hear loud music, which seemed to be coming from the pub on the corner. It was audible over the television. I hoped it would stop, but it didn't, not even at midnight. It lasted until 2am, and I had to get up at 5am and drive the rest of the way tired. As I was checking out, I told the reception staff I had not had much sleep and another guest, who was next in line, said she didn't either. It turns out she was in the room next to mine and had an even longer drive ahead. She mentioned she'd asked the staff if it was a quiet room when she arrived at 11:30pm, and was assured it was.... These rooms clearly shouldn't be available on Friday and Saturday nights. I am driving back to Sydney via Albury later this week. I know where I won't be staying.
