Good location, close to restaurants and hotels. The room was clean and quiet location, plenty of parking and friendly staff. Only disappointment was the bed, worst night sleep and very sore back when I awoke next morning.

Overall, I was happy with our stay. The location was convenient, there was always parking available, and the staff were friendly and helpful. That said, there are a few areas where some small improvements could really lift the experience. The plants around the pool area made it look nicer, but unfortunately they also made the water look a bit grubby. It wasn’t very inviting to put your head under the water or even get too close. This feels like it could be an easy fix. There is only one lift for a building of this size, and it seemed a bit temperamental, it would open randomly for no apparent reason. This became a bit of a running joke among guests we shared the lift with during our stay. While adding another lift would be difficult, fixing the sensors could help, and perhaps adding signage to make it clearer that the stairs are an option (especially for going down) would ease congestion. The corridors felt a bit gloomy and claustrophobic, and at times slightly spooky, especially when stepping out of a lift that had opened unexpectedly. Better lighting could be a simple improvement here. I did, however, like the photos displayed along the corridors. The rooms themselves were fine and had everything needed: bed, toilet, TV, fridge, and shower (no safe though) The shower pressure was excellent, although the temperature was very sensitive, even a slight knock of the handle (as we discovered with an accidental elbow bump) made it quickly go hot or cold. The soap and toiletries were nice, though the soap fixtures were broken and soap bottles sitting on the floor. Not a deal-breaker, but worth fixing. Also, steam in the shower revealed some writing on the mirror, which added to the spooky vibe, a good wipe would probably sort that out. The coffee downstairs was quite good, but service was a little slow to make. It seemed like the café may have been understaffed that day, and there was a full breakfast crowd. We didn’t eat, so I can’t comment on the food itself. All things considered, I’ve given this stay an 8 out of 10. I did briefly consider a 7, but the hotel delivered well on the main aspects of accommodation, especially for its price point, which earned it the higher score.

David B. Families - Confirmed reviews ALL

We went to great length contacting the hotel about the requirements of my family to staying in the Queen suite, which was at additional cost for a roller bed, and requiring a baby cot. On arrival the cot was missing, as was the roller bed. This hyped the kids even more as we were not able to transition them straight to bed. The room phone was not plugged in, and when plugged in didn’t operate. Going to reception to talk to the staff the elevator has a fault that when you press the close door B. they close then immediately reopen. Even other guests had been frustrated by this stupid bug. The reception person confirmed all the notes were on the reservation but had not been actioned. He attended the room and prepared the missing items. I not that a King sheet was folded up as a cot blanket which is a suffocation risk and we had to retrieve cot blanks from our car as the hotel did not have any. Bathing the children was a hazard as the flip tap is faulty as is the flow direct switch between the shower head line and bath spout coming from both. As the flip water controller was dodgy the water temp quickly went from hot and cold and risk burning the children’s skin. After a protracted period getting the kids to bed due to the disruption the spa bath tape continued to play up turning itself off and being very touchy to get water and of a good temp for the actual bath. The grout had mould where even a simple application of exit mould or other mould killer would resolve this quickly. The experience left us exhausted not getting the time or rest we needed during our travel, or proper opportunity to enjoy the luxury we had thought we had purchased. Other notes are that there is no way around th speed bump for the luggage trolly or parking at the entrance so you can unload. Likewise some cooling system is leaking water making a permanent puddle in the carpark which has damage to the road surface due to the combination of water and traffic. Overall we were disappointed and felt we wasted our money on luxury we didn’t get a chance to actually enjoy due to the mess up in preparation of the room, and the maintenance and cleanliness issues.

Upon arrival the receptionist was on the computer and while acknowledging my presence he stayed on it for at least another ten minutes not something you expect from ALL. Our room was a good size and clean with a very comfortable bed however none of the tv remotes worked so we had to swap the batteries with the air conditioner. The overall cleanliness of the hotel appeared very poor especially glassed areas. Breakfast was included in our room rate and it was like what breakfast. No cereal no bread nothing other than what was brought out of the kitchen, my wife ordered scrambled eggs and what she got was something that we are still talking about. Finally as we were checking out we met a lovely lady who was the receptionist on duty pity she wasn't there when we arrived. I understand that Mercure is a budget hotel but it is the only branded hotel in Albury so it appears to be wasting a great opportunity.
