Great location

Great place to stay. Most staff helpful, though the one I spoke to regarding an invoice after my stay, was not as helpful as they could have been. Also awaiting response to member relations follow up on missing points

Beautiful Location and the King Billy Suite was amazing .. But unfortunately disappointed with a couple of things, paying top end prices ( $1,493.60 per night ) You expect an amazing stay ! On arrival we had to chase up our purchased & complementary platters, as it was not in our suite on arrival , and also our Hot Tub was uncovered, and missing a cover, therefore hot tub was full of sticks and bark.. So we did not experience a soak in our own Hot tub, tried to call the reception but the phone line was down to reception. I would also suggest some rubber matting out on the deck area, as on our arrival it was raining and the deck was very slippery and both my husband and I nearly slipped on the wet timber.

The whole experience was fantastic, everything well run and staff all very friendly.

We ignored the poor reviews and decided to give this property the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, we were left completely dissatisfied and wondering how a property of such an iconic status in Tasmania has been allowed to deteriorate to this extent. The property is seriously understaffed, the rooms and facilities are extremely run down and the roads throughout the property are in an appalling state with gigantic potholes that are practically big enough to lose a car in. The food was also a major disappointment & certainly did nothing to justify the price. The online photographs are completely misleading. They create an impression of a beautifully maintained, luxurious and well-presented property, which is simply not what we experienced. The reality is significantly more tired, dated and poorly maintained than the images would have you believe. Had we known what the property actually looked and felt like in person, we would never have booked it. It is important to say that the staff themselves were clearly doing their absolute best in very difficult circumstances. They were friendly and tried to help, but you could see the frustration and exhaustion on their faces. They appeared completely browbeaten by a system that is asking too much of too few people and it was hard not to feel sorry for them. This is not a criticism of the frontline staff, quite the opposite! They deserve credit for continuing to turn up and try to provide a good experience despite what seems to be a lack of adequate staffing, resources and support. The responsibility for this clearly sits much higher up! What is perhaps most frustrating is that this doesn't appear to be a one-off experience. There are numerous poor reviews highlighting similar issues, yet management seemingly isn't listening to the feedback or taking meaningful action to improve the property. For such an iconic Tasmanian destination, the current state of the property is frankly shameful. When you're paying a premium price, you expect a premium experience. Instead, this felt like a property that has been allowed to coast on its previous reputation & history while the actual guest experience has been sadly neglected. One saving grace: the Spa was amazing! It was by far the highlight of our stay & genuinely lived up to expectations. Sadly, though, an excellent spa cannot compensate for the overall appalling condition, service, food and facilities. Until there is a serious investment in upgrading the property and addressing the issues guests have repeatedly raised, we would strongly recommend spending your money elsewhere.

Overall a good experience. Simple issues like Repairing pot holes, better quality beacon & eggs at breakfast as the range of food was very good would have made the experience even better.

Everything was wonderful, staff were great, food was delicious. We were there to celebrate our anniversary and although the weather was raining most of the weekend, we still had a fabulous time and the clouds cleared the last day so we could get in a spectacular hike in Cradle mountain

Being a frequent traveller the room was below average .The car park and roads to the cabins are disgraceful with potholes 35cm +. There was no TV or quality internet.

The lodge is dated. But the magical walks and location is unbeatable

Reception staff were lovely and gave great information. The cabins were fantastic, cosy and really easy to relax in with the spa after a full day of hiking. The meals at the tavern were really well priced and good sized. Absolutely recommended.

Unsure how to describe this place to someone else. It really would be best to just book it for yourself. Georgia on reception was lovely. All the staff were extremely accommodating. The enchanted walking track was beautiful. Restaurant for dinner was delicious. The twins working there made everything easy. Breakfast was also amazing the next morning. I’m unsure if I’ve ever stayed in a room quite like the King Billy Suite before. It was just magic. Highlight of our week in Tasmania.
