Mantra Crown Towers Surfers Paradise

Third time staying here now. You'd think we would have learned but unfortunately we have a two year old who loves the pool and really, it's the only good part. Last time we stayed we were given room 1010. It was dirty and there were issues with staff. I left a review on that so not going to go in to it again. This time I thought is learned my lesson and called ahead to ask for a low floor and close to the lifts. You see, there is this giant frigging pit of death in the middle of the hotel and if you're like me and terrified of heights, you literally have to crab walk along the internal walkways. This is only exasperated by the fact that I have a fearless two year old who loves heights and wants to peer down through the glass. I like to think I'm a great parent but as soon as she goes near that I'm like 'nah nope she's stuffed mate'. I seriously can't even inch my way out there to grab her and bring her back and continue on to our room, my poor wife has to do it. Of course, arrive, check in and lo and behold we've been given a room pretty much directly underneath the one from the previous stay despite calling in advance and asking for a room near the lifts where I won't have to hug the wall to keep away from the pit of death. Room is... it's dated, has chunks missing from parts of the walls. But let's be honest it's a fairly budget hotel and it's kind of to be expected? Maybe? I mean I could just be used to it given we have stayed here the last three trips up to the Gold Coast. Certainly wouldn't expect it from the Meriton or any other place so may be worth mentioning. What's pretty unforgivable though is that after edging my way around the hole to hell and going down to collect our Uber Eats ice creams (yum!) I opened the kitchen drawer to find the spoons were not quite clean. This is not the first cleanliness issue we've has here. Last time we found used face masks and tissues in the room. Gross. COVID. COVID gross. TVs are some sort of povo off brand thing. They almost look modern and have some apps and stuff but the sound and picture quality is pretty average. The one in the bedroom is horrid. My daughter would like to know why Bluey sounds like some sort of tin can robot. And on the note of TVs, the remote is so worn that I legit cannot work out what button to use to get on to HDMI because all the icons/labelling has worn off and it's just an unintuitive mess of unmarked buttons. This really gets your skin crawling when you think about it, so many people hands have been all over that remote, dropping skin flakes and leaving their grubby germs so much it's worn buttons off a remote. Gross. Almost as bad as the thousand foot drop just outside our room door. Look I promise I'm not a difficult person and I'm generally pretty easy going. I'm not a germaphobe or anything... But it's pretty gross when you've got a room with chunky bits stuck to the bottom of spoons and literally wake up at 3am because you're having nightmares about the fact you have to pass a giant frigging hole that makes you question life and willing to give your daughter up to the sea gods when you want to get to the car and go to Sea World in the morning. Well, I guess I'm using the nightmare and insomnia time constructively. Honestly though, the pool is great. The staff are pretty average - yes I did go down and ask to be moved rooms and was told that the only other one available was further around the long drop... so no not there - other than that it's an old hotel with dates facilities and a portal to the underworld. With a reservations team who are clearly useless. Oh on the note of reservations. Booked the room, paid only, got a nasty email telling me I had an overdue account and needed to pay immediately or my room would be cancelled. Not a nice way to plan a holiday. So yeah, I think this will be the last chance we give this place. I'm sure there are other places with cool aquatic facilities with staff who care, clean rooms and a hole to China.

Great stay, huge room fit for family we had 2 adults 3 teens and 1 year old. Great functional kitchen air con and fans, only downfall was a bit of renovation noise. Great amenities and friendly helpful staff. Thai restaurant was also a hit with everyone.

We spent 7 nights here in may 2023 and had a great stay, the staff were the best we have encountered in a long time and really went out of their way to make sure we were happy. The rooms are spacious and very clean , the whole foyer has the most amazing smell, there is a beautiful large outdoor pool with it’s own sandy beach as well as a large heated indoor pool , there is also a great little cafe located in the pool area that has great breakfast , lunch and snack options , very well priced too, it has a great in house restaurant called Chang mai that offers some of the best authentic Thai food I have ever had , the tram station ( cypress) is a very short walk away and there is a 24 hr 711 across the road. Great staff, great location very friendly family accommodation

We as a family have just stayed here, the connection between the hotel and the serviced apartments were a little confusing but it all made sense after we arrived. Getting here from the airport was quite easy for us, via the bus and then tram. Being close to a tram stop made life very easy. We didn't hire a car so had no issues associated with this. Room was slightly dated but that didn't worry us at all, was a large open plan apartment that was close to everything with the use of tram, bus or walking. Location was more important over how the bathrooms looked. Pools were awesome as well, kids loved them. Although would have been nice if the large outdoor pool could have been slightly heated, was a little chilly even after a hot day (did help with cooling off after those days though). The one downside was the smell in the lobby, not sure what it was from, possibly the indoor water feature, a plant or cleaning products? Other than that small downside this was an awesome location and we will be back.

Great apartment. Very spacious. Good views from every room. Well appointed, albeit an older building. Nice aspect. Central location/ close to beach. Good amenities - pool, gym etc. The 3 bedroom apartment was perfect for our family with teenagers. Not alot of available parking onsite/ easy to get a park on street. We would happily stay here again!
