While many of the reviews are mixed, I wanted to leave my positive comment about my recent stay. Firstly, the location is FANTASTIC! There is a tram station immediately outside that’s one stop (about 1 minute travel) to the main strip of shops. It’s one street behind the beach, and is surrounded by a mix of high end and casual dining options, including surrounding luxury hotels. Secondly but most important while travelling with kids, the pool area was fantastic - honestly I can’t fault it. Plenty of seats for everyone, heated in parts and has a sand bottom. All the kids loved the slide! Additionally, there was a games room which we had loads of fun in and was surprisingly very affordable. The gym was also very popular and was well equipped. As for our room, we are fortunate that we stayed in a private room owned by a timeshare company I am affiliated with, so it was recently renovated and extremely spacious as a one bedroom apartment. I can’t comment on the other rooms available for booking through regular websites unfortunately. The hotel itself had very friendly staff. All the main areas were maintained well and were very clean. I saw the cleaners there daily doing a full clean of all surfaces. A lot of the reviews mention a “moldy” smell which as far as I could tell was isolated to the reception area which is fully enclosed with an indoor water feature - likely lack of good air circulation causes this, something the management team can look into. Yes the building itself is somewhat dated, however the overall facilities make up for it.

Location was fantastic. Atmosphere, dull. Room was hardly a sea view like it stated and for the price that was paid. Cleanliness was poor. We stayed for 11 days and the room got cleaned once, one day on the 5th day. The main AC didn't work and it was very humid! The manager offered a humidifier, which didn't work. Offered to shift rooms but it was under renovations or something. The washing machine turned our whites, brown!! The walk-in robe smelt like an off shoe, turns out the carpet is soaked underneath which must be coming from the shower. The reception staff turned out keys off a day early, so had to fix that. Upon checking out, hardly got a "thank you" from the gentleman at reception. The Chinese restaurant downstairs leaves tables dirty for hours after guest leave the restaurant, so when you walk out of the lift you just see dirty dishes left on tables. The New Year's Eve fireworks were advertised for 8:30pm, when it was actually 8pm!!

A mixed review. Good and bad. The official photos aren’t quite accurate ! Our 2 bed apartment was in need of a refurb and a jolly good clean (it was grubby and crumbs and rubbish behind the sofa). No cleaning service available unless you are booked for a minimum of 8 nights. Suggest brining laundry detergent to wash your towels etc.

Misleading advertising compared to reality

Photos are misleading – they don’t reflect reality. This was our first family holiday in Surfers Paradise, and unfortunately, the accommodation was extremely disappointing. The towers had a water leak, and every room smelled strongly of mould. The odour was so overwhelming that we had to relocate to different rooms. Bathrooms were outdated and not in proper working condition. Rubbish was left in the hallways. The oven was falling apart. The kitchen rangehood was so greasy that the fans couldn’t handle steam from cooking. The outdoor pool, meant for children, was under construction and unsafe to use. Staff struggled to manage complaints, often deflecting issues to the body corporate instead of resolving them. There was no bar downstairs to enjoy an evening drink. Overall atmosphere was very low and uninviting. Positive note: The location was excellent, and the new tram rail was a great convenience.

Unfortunately, we had a terrible experience at the Mantra Crown Towers. Our first room was in very poor condition , leaking taps, splintered cupboard doors, broken glasses in the cupboards, and walls covered in marks and blobs of gap filler. While the staff were polite and promptly moved us to another room, they explained that the rooms are individually owned under a strata title, so maintenance standards vary by owner. The second room was only slightly better, with visible water damage to the kitchen cupboards and similar marks across the walls and ceiling. The worst part of our stay was the constant construction noise from two high-rise buildings directly next door, along with ongoing council roadworks. Although I understand this was outside the hotel’s control, the small note now on the website is misleading. It states that work occurs between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., but we were repeatedly woken around 6 a.m., and when we asked reception, we were told they had only recently been informed that the council construction would be running 24/7. The noise was incredibly loud and disruptive throughout our stay. I do want to acknowledge that hotel management were quick to contact me after receiving my email and were understanding and proactive in launching further Investigation and reaching a mutual resolution. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience.
