The genuine care and kindness from William and Sangeeta was beyond anything I have experienced when staying at any hotel. Out of town guests should be prepared for the one way traffic system in Hobart which can be hugely difficult to navigate for the uninitiated - and which affects the access to Mantra (who of course can do nothing about it). I found annoyances in the room with a very slippery shower stall floor, a TV in the lounge area which was far too big for the room and impossible to tune without a degree in electronics and extensive spare time (no instruction booklet either), and no previous occupant had bothered to do it past the ABC and SBS (and guests from China who had set up accounts on YouTube); a large dining table twice the size needed for a two person occupancy hogging space; downlights in the lounge far more powerful than necessary (and I mean powerful+++); and restrictive food preparation arrangements (with a weird location of power points on the other side of the sink from the small work space, the microwave too high for easy access, and an intimidating fine threatened for the accidental setting off of the sensitive smoke detector). Eating out or using Uber Eats are really the only apparent options beyond toast and coffee (the machine takes Nespresso style pods) if one stays here.

We are sorry to hear that aspects of your accommodation did not meet your expectations. As a heritage-listed building, there are certain structural limitations we must work within, particularly regarding kitchen configurations and ventilation requirements. However, we do appreciate your comments regarding the room layout, lighting, television setup, and overall usability, and these will be taken into consideration as we continue to review guest comfort improvements. We were also concerned to read your comments regarding the shower floor. Please note that non-slip bath mats are available upon request through Reception, and our team would have been more than happy to assist had we been made aware during your stay. In regard to the food preparation facilities, the Studio Room category is designed with limited kitchenette amenities suitable for light meals and short stays. Guests intending to undertake more extensive cooking may find our One Bedroom Apartments more suitable, as these offer fuller kitchen facilities. Regarding your booking experience, your original reservation was made through the Accor system, and when the additional night was requested, any modification to the original booking would have resulted in a different room rate applying. As discussed at the time with me, a separate reservation was created to retain your preferred rate structure, which consequently resulted in separate billing arrangements.
