We stayed here twice, one night on our way to Australia and one night on our way back. Large comfortable rooms. Amazing views. Located next to/in the raffles city shopping centre. Staff seemed very friendly and helpful.

Extremely poor welcome and check-in at this 5 Star Property

Our check-in was terrible. Upon arrival the female check-in agent, Cess, did not welcome us in any way (I am a Platinum ACCOR Member) but immediately proceeded to check us in at the multi terminal desk. Her demeanour towards us was blunt and officious and she talked down to us in rapid fire quick speak which we both found very difficult to understand. We requested her to slow down her speech to us but she continued in her rapid form. Our request to inspect our allocated room prior to occupation (our normal modus operandi) was met with blunt refusal and a statement that if we did not like the room we could call down later to the front desk! The total check in process was akin to being processed for custody, photographs included and a blunt-mordant instruction to "sign here". Prior to unpacking we reflected upon the manner we were treated by Cess and decided to formally complain about our treatment to the Duty Manager. We were warmly greeted by Darren Lam, who with great compassion and respect listened to what we had to say and acknowledged our concerns. Darren asked us to wait a few minutes and upon his return he had arranged an upgrade us to a beautiful corner suite for our three day stay. Throughout our stay Darren warmly acknowledged our presence when we passed by his work area. Our 3 day night stay from then on was what we expect from a 5 Star property - brilliant in every way.
