Very Disappointed - Find Somewhere Else!

Firstly. I'll start by saying how lovely and helpful the staff were. From the front desk to housekeeping, they were professional , polite and helpful. That's about where it ended. The property is rated as 4.5 stars. I think they must be for the staff. I've never stayed in a hotel of this rating where the carpets were as filthy and an ongoing battle to get cold water from a bathroom tap. Room service finishes at 2100 to be replaced by only lasagne and a bean salad until breakfast service. We ordered steaks on the first night. Although very tasty and well cooked, I don't understand why they arrived at the room without even a lid on the plate to keep it warm, let alone a warming trolley, so the result was obvious. Nor have I ever seen breakfast pastries served with no preserves (or even butter). When asked, the lovely receptionist sent some as 'a Christmas gift'. Very sweet of her, but also an odd situation. For those thinking 'well go out for meals; a) due to an injury this wasn't possible; and b) not the point at such a highly rated property.. Also. the blanket in the room was coated with such a thick layer of dust, it was unusable. There are further issues I could speak about, but suffice to say if not for the staff, this Novotel would battle for 3 stars. Very disappointed 😞

Location was very handy . Staff were welcoming and Friendly, Atmosphere was good, Room was great, good value for money, only issue for me was the curtains don’t completely bloke out daylight . Rooms / bathroom quite clean. Amenities, hotel’s gym and outdoor heated lap pool were good .

A hotel that thinks it is acceptable to close its bar without consultation at 10:30. No flexibility. Customers still in the bar. Thousands of dollars spent, thousands of miles travelled and a management with zero interest in customer satisfaction.

A charge appeared on my account for food and alcohol at Spice Central Kitchen & Bar that did not belong to me. When I informed the duty manager, she was unable to produce a signed bill but refused to reverse the charge and insisted that my card was not charged. When the charge appeared on my bank statement, I emailed her but she ignored me completely!

Very Poorly Managed Hotel

Very poorly managed hotel that is obviously cutting costs to bare minimum. The things I expect of a Novotel are sheets that are not scratchy, more than 1 towel each for an overnighter, particularly where there is a pool, and friendly service for Gold status members who also have paid Accor membership. You definitely get none of those at the Novotel at South Brisbane. If you ask for a later check out to 12 noon it’s an automatic and emphatic NO. I, therefore, had to check out and sit down at the Bar area trying to do some work while my husband attended a meeting elsewhere. I tried to order something to eat after 11 am from the Bar Menu but was told the onlything I could get was a drink. I ordered a lemonade / Sprite but got a soda water with a piece of lemon? There are no cafes close by / across the road so you have no choice and have to hike over the South Bank so you would think the Bar Menu would start earlier or you could at least get a toasted sandwich or something the Bar staff could handle. There is not enough parking. Never had that problem at the Sofitel in Brisbane or the Pullman, both of which are in the City. With this Hotel you have to Park over at the Convention Centre. The staff couldn’t have been more unpleasant and unhelpful if they tried.
