Great stay

Our son and his partner got us an overnight stay at Walton Hotel and Spa, as a gift for our 40th wedding anniversary. I was a bit apprehensive to say the least, once I had read the reviews. We were greeted by 2 lovely ladies at reception. They explained everything we needed to know about the hotel, dining and spa. Our room was comfortable, spacious, warm, and very clean. We booked a table in the restaurant for a 2 course dinner, which was included in our package. The food was amazing. The steak was cooked to perfection. The staff in the restaurant were excellent. Aditya was our waiter. He was brilliant. I am one of these awkward customers that is allergic to certain foods, plus fussy eat. He went to great lengths to make sure that my food was safe, and enjoyable for me. What a star. I spoke to the front office manger Pinaky Buxi, to congratulate him on such excellent and customer focused staff they have working, in the hotel.

Could have been so much better

This is an amended review I had previously rated the experience 5 star due mostly to one waitress Eleana on Friday night and her excellent service - unfortunately the rest of the stay was very poor - dirty ( filthy ) carpets in communal areas and general shabbiness of the hotel was not as expected - the breakfast was poor and at best basic on both days but today it was absolutely horrendous ! No coffee , barely any food , dirty tables - despite asking for the table to be cleaned this did not happen so we had to use their cleaning spray and cloth and do it ourselves - eggs ordered didn’t come until 25 minutes later and then not the full order , there wasn’t any food left to have them with anyway ! Butter ran out , crockery ran out , eggs went cold waiting for the rest of the. Breakfast buffet to be replenished . Photo attached is the poor state of our ‘ breakfast ‘ All in all the experience ruined the last day of our break and quite literally left a bad taste - complained to manager who gave us complimentary spa entrance by the time we got to the spa after a stressful 1 hour along with many others in the restaurant and feeling a bit ill due to the combination of random food we had to cobble together to have some sustenance we gave up , changed our minds and just turned back and went home - such a shame , there is some pockets of loveliness at this hotel but what lets it down REALLY can put a downer on your stay here - it certainly did ours , really very disappointed and quite upset

DO NOT BOOK FOR LUXURY BREAK

Ok for a cheap night away, do not book for special occasion. Me and my boyfriend came here on a last minute break booked through Groupon, and I felt a little disappointed. The staff were lovely and accommodating, however the place itself is in need of a revamp. I don’t know how you can call the swimming pool, steam room and sauna a spa?? It looked dirty, old and dated. I felt sorry for those who booked through “spa breaks”. I’ve seen nicer leisure centres. Genuinely needs a good investment as the place has loads of potential. There are places you can stay for the same price, with way better facilities. Also massive queue for breakfast with a wait on sausages, bacon and tomato. Again, not the staffs fault, more to do with logistics and planning.

Dreadful

Overpriced. Poor. Needs an overhaul and money spending on it...there's NO way this is anywhere near a 4* hotel. Missold ON EVERY LEVEL. Just don't stay here. It's like Fawlty Towers without the humour. Never. Again. Rooms are basic, bathrooms vile and the restaurant was a joke. Go somewhere else.

The whole stay was amazing! We were greeted by friendly, attentive staff & had a wonderful surprise of a very nice upgrade! The bridal suite was luxurious & very comfortable. The staff in the bar & restaurant were friendly & helpful & the food was excellent. Thank you to the front of house manager Pinaky Buxi for helping with this reservation & making our stay so memorable. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds & well worth a visit!!
