First the hotel was clean and most staff were lovely. However the mattress on our bed was awful and I had metal springs sticking into me. Budget hotels get this right, it isn’t a 4 star hotel if you can’t sleep because of a poor bed. Very disappointing Mercure

Good sized rooms, and very clean. Great location. Staff are superb. Really quiet at night, which is rare for a city hotel. We would definitely go back, but I'll bring my own pillows as theirs were a bit lumpy.

Very small room, that’s ok. Clean, compact, bathroom a bit tired. Only hanging space above the kettle. Returning from meal out, 10pm, bar closed. Room service ended at ten. No minibar. Raucous crowd drunk and shouting in reception area, so we did feel quite annoyed at not being able to order a nightcap. Before going out, no lager available in the bar worst pint of Guinness ever, too fizzy and watery. Parking in car park, nail biting. Tightest multi-storey ever! Disappointing service with many visible staff. Never been so disappointed with a mercure, and we have stayed in many over the years.

However, it's a bummer to hear about the issues you encountered during your stay. Our bar typically buzzes with activity and serves a wide array of beverages until 11pm, so it's unusual that it closed early during your visit. We're also scratching our heads about the Guinness – it's generally a hit, but we’ve noted your comments and will keep an eye on the quality of our pints! As for the parking, it can be a bit snug; it's one of the quirks of being located in the heart of the city with all the action at your doorstep. We're also truly sorry to hear that the service didn't meet the high standards we strive for, and we'll be looking into this to ensure it was an isolated incident. Very busy but staff were excellent, helpful, calm and friendly. Used points to reduce the amount to pay but this process was extremely onerous and delayed checkin by approximately 30 minutes but the clunky ALL Accor programme is not the fault of hotel staff and they were excellent in trying to resolve the issues for us.
