I had a wonderful stay at Sofitel Shanghai Hongqiao, and it truly exceeded expectations from start to finish. The hotel itself is beautifully designed and impressively grand, with elegant architecture that immediately gives a sense of premium comfort and style. One of the highlights was the Executive Lounge and the breakfast experience—both were outstanding. The selection was rich, diverse, and generously prepared, making it easy to enjoy a relaxing and satisfying start (and end) to the day. Just as impressive was the service: every staff member I encountered was professional, attentive, and genuinely warm, creating a smooth and welcoming experience throughout the stay. The location is also a major advantage. The hotel is right next to the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC), making it an ideal choice for business travelers and exhibition visitors. Even better, the room felt exceptionally comfortable—among Accor hotels in Shanghai, this property offers the largest rooms for the same room category, which is a real luxury, especially for families or longer stays. A special mention goes to the hotel’s free shuttle service to Longhu Hongqiao Paradise Walk, Hongqiao Railway Station, and Hongqiao Airport. It’s incredibly convenient, but do note that advance reservation with the hotel is required. Overall, Sofitel Shanghai Hongqiao is a top-tier choice for families, business travelers, tourists, and exhibition guests alike. Beautiful property, excellent food, outstanding service, and truly spacious rooms—highly recommended.

The hotel is beautiful, the staff service forgettable. Only difference is maybe the noodle lady chef, Audrey from front desk, Igor from concierge. The rest of the team, no Accor brand of hospitality culture that we have embraced and loved through many years of being loyal Accor members (platinum). It’s our first trip to China so maybe that’s how it is here, just thought that because we were staying at Sofitel we get to see the same brand hospitality. Also got really disappointed with the kids missing out on swimming as they required wearing caps (which we agreed to purchase) only to be disappointed because we had to pay it upfront, as I didn’t have my phone and preferred to pay all charges upon checking out (apparently the pool shop is not owned by the hotel?) so we had to pay separately as room charge was not allowed, decided to ask help from front desk, 2 male staff there can’t help as well, after giving us stringent looks). The language barrier is really a challenge but it’s okay, only concern in this place is that every satff seemed to be so uptight, too serious looking, a smile is so expensive here (again, we’re not sure if it’s the national norm), but if you’re a family looking to have that “Accor home away from home” feel, maybe try to look into somewhere else?? We are still here for another 2 nights so will make another review on the check out experience.

The room was so hot and dry that it was difficult to stay for three nights, and the reception staff was not friendly at check-in and check-out. However, the lounge staff were friendly.
