On a business trip to the UK, Midlands and London, provided the ideal opportunity to sample the different Accor hotels in the UK, similar to the last trip 3 months ago to Paris, trying a coupe of the hotel’s brands (Ibis and Mercure) in the same tier group there. The distinguishing features between the hotel’s brands were less defined and inconsistent, similarly with the facilities and provisions, unlike in the Asia Pacific; at noted overlaps as well and in some cases the lower tier establishment have more or better facilities than the next level hotel. These stays were of overnight durations, excepting for the London Heathrow location, used as a base and for 3 nights. For my bookings in the Spring & Summer, the hotels tariffs vary day to day, sometimes 50-100%. This hotel is a free standing, 4-storey building consisting of a main and an annex separated by the drive to the car park, with an internal walkway connection on the second floor. Located about a kilometer to the right of the main entry-exit from Heathrow T2 & T3 on Bath Road (where many hotels are), it is well located for short or overnight stops. Conveniently located next door is an Esso station with a small convenience retail open 24hrs. Within 10-15 minutes stroll are small restaurants and eateries; there is also a McDonalds. Getting there from Heathrow is easy as quite a few of the London buses from Heathrow T2 & T3 passes by the hotel, with a bus top right outside. Return to Heathrow Central you take the bus from the bus stop on the opposite (outside of the Renaissance Hotel. An Oyster transport card or a credit card with a chip is needed for the fare (this used to be free for tourists going from Heathrow Central to and from hotels along Bath Road prior to Covid 19 but no more now). Though they display the Accor Member sign it doesn’t mean anything; you still wait in line to be checked in, even as an elite status member. Arriving for the fourth stay, the room appear to be an upgrade, quite spacious with a small sofa and a small dining table. Room appointments pretty basic. There is an electric jug and tea and coffee making facilities and bottled drinking water, but no bar refrigerator. Lighting was good, and the large windows let in much light during the day. Bed was acceptable for a reasonable rest, helped by the room being air-conditioned. Bathroom appointments basic with towels but no toiletries. As an Accor member welcome drink was provided but no welcome amenity. The breakfast (complimentary for elite Accor members on the weekend) was pretty average, with cereals, breads and pastry, fruit juice, fruit salad and some cold cuts. Hot items were, scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages, baked beans, grilled tomatoes, hash brown and mushroom, the taste of these were acceptable. Overall, very much an Ibis hotel, no frills, in a convenient location but pricey for the period of stay.

Receptionists Allister and Shania provided excellent service. The waitresses, Lily and Julia, were also exceptionally courteous. The breakfast offered a lovely and diverse selection. Additionally, the gentleman assisting with breakfast was very friendly and helpful, though I regrettably did not catch his name. The morning receptionist was also very accommodating despite my hurried departure. Overall, the Ibis team was truly outstanding.

Friendly and attentive. First time staying here for work reasons (day rate) I called up the day before; Anna was really helpful. Checked in and the lady on duty, I want to say Amelia was wonderful, a lovely Indian lady. The bedrooms was a fair size and easy to get too. Parking limited but still good.

Just needed a room adjacent to LHR for 1 night to accommodate a family. This hotel suited the need. Overall, good value for the money. I must say, every interaction I had with the front desk staff was excellent. They were helpful, pleasant, and informative. One note for a fellow TripAdvisor to be aware: USB charging in the room was definitely lacking. Plus, no 110W / 115W outlet in the bathroom to handle an electric razor (or standard USB plug-in unit). Everything else was fine. NOTE: Although the hotel looks close to LHR, expect to pay $25+ for a cab each way to/fro LHR.

Pros Large family room Proximity buses to/from Heathrow Some convenience stores nearby Breakfast buffet Housekeeping good Cons Security needs to be improved. One doesn’t need a key card to access the room floors and no security present to monitor strangers roaming the room floors / lift lobby seating area. Will be discomforting for lone traveller I think. On two occasions saw men sitting on 2nd floor lift lobby or walking the corridors of hotel. Family room facing runway request was denied due unavailability. Staff could not clearly explain how many family rooms faced the runway. Just ask into check back with them everyday. Toilet flush is positioned behind upright toilet seat and every time u flush you need to touch the toilet seat to access the flush?? Lack of storage shelves or hangers. We had to keep clothes inside our suitcase and take out clothes each day. Breakfast buffet was same everyday and same male staff manning needs some service training as ‘scowled and glared’ each morning we ate there. Making us feel like we were charity cases instead of paying guests. No minibar fridge and iron in the room. We didn’t try requesting for iron from housekeeping. Overview hotel met our needs and will be back mainly for the location.
