am an Accor Gold member. While spending my annual leave in Japan, I decided to aim for Platinum status in the final month of 2024, as I only needed 4 more nights to qualify for the upgrade. I stayed for one night at this hotel as I was only exploring Kyoto for two days before moving on to the Osaka Mercure for another three nights. I asked the staff to store my luggage at 10 a.m., and they informed me that I could check in at noon, which was very convenient. I was also offered a room upgrade, which was a nice gesture. Regarding the room itself, it is very typical of the Ibis brand—economical and compact, but equipped with all the essentials. I was pleasantly surprised to find the TV included Apple TV, allowing me to enjoy my own content in the evening. Unfortunately, the hygiene of the room was somewhat disappointing. The toilet had a slight odor, which was tolerable, but I was quite shocked to find an insect on the bed when I was preparing to sleep. This was entirely unexpected and detracted from an otherwise decent stay.

Only tip to give is be early for breakfast if you have breakfast included as the room is very small and can get very busy if tour groups are present.

Location is super convenient, we could walk across to the Kyoto station for the trains or subway for sightseeing, as well as for food and indoor shopping, especially when weather was not so fair. There was no air purifier and no wall USB ports for charging, and we found the air-conditioner a bit difficult to adjust. Breakfast buffet was pretty good. Reception staff were helpful in giving us suggestion of nearby interests and gave us a detailed directory of the Osaka area.
