A very very poor way to encourage customer loyalty

I had been happy with my stays at Mercure Wittenbergplatz, a hotel I'd used for a number of business trips. But it's funny how my loyalty has NOT been rewarded when I needed to move or cancel a booking that I had mistakenly not booked with the "flexi" feature. Despite explaining in detail why I needed to make a change and how I'll be making a number of trips next year and happy to continue to use their hotel, my request was rejected and in a very clumsy/automated style of reply. So guess my loyalty isn't valued and let's face it there is not a shortage of hotels in Berlin. Very shortsighted and poor customer service.

We stayed at the Mercure Wittenburg on October 21 to 25, 2024. We are couple in our 50s and we stayed in the Balcony room. The stay was comfortable and the location was excellent. There were restaurants all around and just outside the Mercure's door. We had the breakfast buffet everyday and the quality was good, selection was great and staff were friendly. The buffet area turns in a gathering area serving beer and drinks in the evening. We were able to walk to many places from the hotel and the U Bahn station was directly in front of the hotel. The room was comfortable, with a kettle and fridge. We asked and received a coffee maker. There is an ashtray on the balcony for smokers, which we were pleased with.

Much better than all the other hotels at KuDamm/Tauen especially for the price. Rooms are spacious (befitting an older building) and yet bright and well decorated. nice showers, good services, the hotel doesn’t mention the bar and breakfast but it’s there and it’s decent. The breakfast buffet at €25 isn’t the best deal but much of the stuff including the bread is fresh even if the eggs do come out of a carton. And the obligatory coffee machine means you get your latté or Americano the way you like it. The hotel has bikes for rent which I took for a couple of hours to get out to Charlottenberg - you don’t need a guide, just get on and pay attention to traffic because it moves fast even if the speed limit is 30 kmh. The U-bahn at Wittenbergplatz across the street gets you anywhere you need to go in ten minutes in Stadt-Mitte and the ready services (from Edeka for groceries across the street til 11:00 or the Currywurst places in the plaza til nearly then) make this very central and easy to live in. I will return!

Very well located at 100 meters from the U-Bahn, perfect breakfast, Nice to have the option of a small breakfast, fast and less expensive.

Perfect hotel for our 3 day trip to Berlin. The hotel interior is fashion themed which is unique. The location is perfect, right next to Wittenbergplatz station and only around 25-30 mins to the centre. Tiergarten is only a 10-15 minute walk away. There are so many good restaurants and cafes around (Bäckerei Schnell does amazing pastries and cappuccino). The staff were very helpful and friendly and facilities were sufficient.
