Slightly better than Travel Lodge (UK) standards. Functional. Only stayed as my other colleagues were staying here because of the price. Bad points: - No kettle or coffee machine. You are forced to rely on a coffee machine downstairs which is Euros 2.60, which is quite expensive. This is their sneaky way of making money. - The breakfast is extremely poor value for money at 20 Euros. Only the croissants are nice. No toasted bread. No cheese spread. No other pastries. No fresh juice. Poor selection of everything. You can have a better breakfast outside the hotel. There is a waffle maker but most people are adults and dont want to use it. - Very difficult to get the iron or board. -Rooms are quite small. - No telephone in the room or writing pad. No suitable table to work on. Most people work downstairs in the lobby/restaurant area but there are a number of plug points. -No fridge. -No complimentary water. - Only shower gel and no other toiletries - The bed linen and pillows seemed very basic and poor quality. - One of my colleagues had a mouldy shower and black stuff coming out of it. Good points: -Location is great near to the Uban station, shopping area and zoo. This is the main reason any person will stay here. - Some of the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They helped me how to visit some sights patiently. The Croatian guy and the young hippie man with the long hair at the reception gets a thumbs up. -A small grocery store which is a major plus point. - Good number of restaurants , (some with halal options). Avoid the Turkish street side food vendor opposite to the grocery store. However the Turkish restaurant called Reva is great and very reasonably prices. There is also a sisha place and some places which sell souvenirs nearby. - Despite the no frills room, it is very clean. My shower was nice and no mould.

It was a nice experience.

The staff were genuinely friendly and made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. My room was spotless and well-maintained, with everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The amenities, while not extravagant, were just right for a relaxing experience. The hotel’s location was super convenient, making it easy to explore nearby attractions. I also appreciated the variety in the breakfast buffet—it had something for everyone. Overall, it was a lovely experience, and I'd definitely consider coming back.

Berlin stay

Great location. The room was clean and bed was comfortable Lovely shower room which again was nice and clean The only negative point with this hotel was there’s no tea/coffee making facilities in the room - I asked at reception they said they don’t supply kettle so you have to go downstairs to get a drink If I went again I’d take a travel kettle We went for a family wedding our stay was 3 nights Would recommend

I felt I was overpaying for this room. It was too basic. However, it was clean, and the staff was helpful. The breakfast room did not look inviting. Instead, I used a bakery across the street that served the most delicious things. This bakery surprised me with its ample choice for breakfast, perfectly served cappuccino and tables inside. Plus, the staff at the bakery were super friendly.

Great friendly hotel in well connected neighborhood

Ibis Budget Hotel I stayed at the Ibis Budget Hotel for a few days in October as a solo traveller.  I booked the double room and concur with the other reviews in that the room is compact, with just the basics, but this is exactly what you know you are buying into with a budget hotel chain. There is a separate private toilet but it is worth noting that the bathing area is in the main bedroom and the shower comes straight off this, so if you are sharing the room you will have to be mindful of who you want to see you in your birthday finery. Pros The hotel is perfectly situated in a really nice area of Berlin, lots of shops, restaurants and bars and plenty to do if you fancy staying local. If not, the hotel is just a minute or so walk to a main tube station which is well connected across the city (and to the airport's)  There is a 24 hour reception and the staff were nothing but pleasant and friendly and spoke good English which is a bonus for me as I speak no other languages and so always very grateful for this. I also managed to book in to my room earlier than the allotted time. The hotel is lovely and clean and well serviced. The hotel is a bit further out to get to from the airport but I don't really see this as an issue as it's very well connected and a distinct neighbourhood you might want to visit anyway.  Area felt nice and safe and there was a little market out in the square on a Tuesday. Cons It is a basic budget hotel and whilst I didn't expect luxury, it is time the beds, pillows and bedding were upgraded, they are not very comfortable. My double room was two single beds together and as such the bedding was for a single bed.  Being on a bustling road it can be a bit noisy outside but you will need to open a window so make sure you're ok with this if you're booking a room at the front. Tips The tube is really handy for getting about but if you have any important journeys to make, do check the travel website as the tube map is out of date.  Always make sure you buy the right ticket for your journey - I made one small error on my first day using it and the authorities are particularly unforgiving. I would consider using this chain again on another trip but would next time consider the price point for another hotel for a better bed as this is something that would be worth it to me. That said the hotel is value for money for its location and the high score reflects my experience taking everything into account.
