The Ibis is a budget hotel with a small but not tiny room. The bathroom is excellent and has a very powerful shower. The bed is wide and very comfortable wit a deep mattress. The room is spotless, staff are friendly and drinks and snacks are available at reception. Overall it is great value for money. The big plus here is the location. Within 2 minutes there is a large supermarket, plenty of cafes and restaurants and a U Bahn station. The hotel is barely 5 minutes from Zoogarten U and S Bahn with many more transport options. There are many shopping options and almost endless cafes and restaurants in the wider area. You get what you pay for and that does not include tea and coffee facilities. The cafe across the street sells a great milch kaffe for less than 2 Euros.

Hotel is steps away from the Wittenberg plaza which contains a group of restaurants with al fresco dining, a small grocery store, bakery, and pharmacy making this the most convent place to stay in Berlin. The KaDeWe luxury department store also faces the plaza for those who like to shop. The room was on the small side, has no safe and no fridge. This is more of an economy hotel. However, the staff were very helpful, accommodating, and go out of their way to please. You can check your luggage at the front desk if you arrive before the room is available. If you want a larger hotel room, suggest the Mercure Hotel which is on the south side of the plaza. At the center of the plaza is the Berlin transit "Wittenbergplatz" station which has the U1, U2, & U3 trains which connect to the rest of the Berlin system. Load the VBB.DE app to navigate the transit system; very easy to use. Also, all the Hop-on bus companies have a stop in front of the KaDeWe store. Great location with access to the rest of Berlin.

Careful Beds Riddled With Bed Bugs

Its a budget hotel so was not expecting the Ritz. Staff are very nice and helpful. Reception facilities were great. The room itself was fine, basic but OK. The reason for the 2 stars is me and my partner are now covered with hives that I can only assume was caused by bed bugs. The bed was a thin mattress and though it looked clean each morning we woke up the hives got worse. We put the first night down to just a coincidence that we got them but after the second night knew it had something to do with the sheets.

I visited the Ibis Kurfuerstendamm in May of 2025, when the tourist period had started to pick up (evidenced by a flow of groups arriving and leaving). Two months later I had stayed at the Mercure across Wittenbergplatz, which is a slightly pricier alternative from the same chain (and one of my colleagues stayed at the Ibis Budget next door). The area is excellent, it is crossed by three metro (U-bahn) lines - the station is directly in front of the hotel - and there are multiple busses passing either in front of the hotel or one block away. It is also possible to walk to the Zoo train/S-Bahn/U-bahn stations in around 10 minutes, where you can get direct trains to the airport. The hotel is next to the KDW department store, and the street running from it to the Zoo is filled with all kinds of stores, cafes and restaurants. And you can get to anywhere in Berlin in 10-15 minutes. I have visited Berlin many times, and this area seems to me the most convenient to stay in, as it offers many options to stay and do things, but is also well connected to everything. This is pretty much the case for any hotel close to Wittenbergplatz. The hotel is typical Ibis, but recently renovated, so everything is in excellent condition. The space is fine for a single person, but I would consider it cramped for two people, as there is no closet space and only a single chair (there is also no water heater or safe, the bathroom is smaller, and so on). So clearly one notch down from the Mercure, but according to my colleague, not really that different from the Ibis budget next door. Staff was very good. I did not get breakfast at the hotel (knew to many nice places next to the hotel - I especially recommend the bakery across the street, and our group stayed in three different hotels, so we would meet up outside for breakfast). I would definitely stay there again when alone - the Mercure is clearly better, but for one person this Ibis was fine - but as a couple I would probably pay a bit more for the Mercure, if only for the extra space and amenities. But I was happy to see that Accor has three different options, all in excellent condition, in the same area.
