What an absolute fall from grace this hotel is having. As a gold Accor member, this has been the worst stay thus far. If you enjoy dirty/moldy/smelly rooms, incompetent staff, possible electrocution, or no electricity in some power points, This hotel is for you, at a premium price. Check-in - Terrible. Room wasn't ready when arrived after 2pm to check-in, bar wasn't opened to have our welcome drinks while we wait. Returned half an hour later and it was finally ready. The room - Terrible. It had a horrible musty smell. Mold in the bathroom, and no exhaust fan in there either. Light switch was dodgy, and the power points the bedside lights were plugged into were broken. didn't realize until the next morning that it wasn't the globes, it was the power points on both sides To our surprise there was a cot bed made up in the corner. We never requested it, and assumed we were given the wrong room. Nope they had put it in the wrong room. There was no welcome note, gift, or any acknowledgement of any kind from the hotel management. Honestly the Ibis is more welcoming than the Novotel. My husband had left a bottle of champagne at the hotel & requested days prior to have it on ice in the room for when we arrived. It wasn't. It was sitting at reception, warm. Was told to ask the bar for an ice bucket. No one in sight. When my husband requested Champagne glasses later on, staff behind the bar said they didn't have any...? He requested they go ask someone else. All in all, it seems like the staff need that pizza party to boost in house moral. Good Luck .

I usually stay in budget hotels when I travel and they’re more than fine for what I need. This time I decided to spend a bit more and booked at the Novotel in Newcastle, expecting a better experience. Big mistake. The room was filthy. There’s visible mould all over sections of the sheer curtain (see photos). After my shower I realised the bathroom exhaust fan doesn’t work, so the whole room fogs up and the mirror is unusable. Maybe that’s why the window was left open before I arrived? And possibly why there’s mould to begin with? Has this room even been used lately? Then I discovered the sink was completely blocked. I had to use my hand like a plunger to get the water down, and some kind of drain gunk came up. Absolutely disgusting. The bar fridge was empty and when I tried to use the in-room ordering system, it just told me it’s not available at this location. Seriously? The general cleanliness of the room was awful and clearly not a one-off. If you look at other recent reviews, you’ll see this kind of thing keeps coming up. It’s clear there are ongoing issues with maintenance and hygiene that just aren’t being addressed. I didn’t report it to the front desk because I didn’t want to deal with fake apologies or be asked to pack everything and move rooms. I came here to relax, not troubleshoot a rundown hotel room. If they try to put you in room 313, ask for something else. This was hands down one of the worst hotel stays I’ve had. For what I paid, it’s an absolute disgrace and a very poor reflection on the Novotel brand.

Service was great and the staff were lovely and helpful. We were able to charge our EV with no problems. Location to the beach was wonderful. There were pests in the restaurant which I understand is pretty unavoidable so near to the beach but I think more could have been done to control them. The main disappointment was that the spa didn’t work and we had chosen the hotel largely bc we liked the look of the spa. I understand things break from time to time but it looked like it had been out of service for quite some time. Overall we had a great time and would be happy to stay at this hotel again.

Nous n'avons séjourné qu'une nuit dans cet hôtel mais rien à redire! Chambre très propre et spacieuse. Salle de bains fonctionnelle. Literie très confortable et wifi offert si vous avez une carte membre Accor hotel (qui est gratuite à faire). Sinon il vous faut payer un accès wifi qui est assez cher (25 AUD pour 1 jour d'accès). Personnel très sympathique. L'hôtel est à 200 mètres de la plage de Newcastle. En un mot: parfait!
