Unacceptable Pool Conditions and Dismissive Management

We arrived at Pullman Sea Temple Port Douglas on a Saturday. Over the course of four days, the main pool steadily deteriorated — from slightly cloudy to dark green and, in appearance, resembling a swamp. Despite this, resort staff repeatedly assured guests that the water was “safe to swim.” The pool largely remained accessible, with limited and poorly positioned signage. Even during brief periods when the pool was reportedly closed, signs were placed in common or corridor areas, which was ineffective for a resort dominated by swim-out rooms. As a result, many guests continued using the pool directly outside their accommodation. What I found particularly disappointing was the attitude taken by resort staff when concerns were raised. At one point, it was explicitly stated to us that we were “not their customer” because our accommodation had been privately rented. This was said openly and left a very poor impression, especially given the ongoing issues impacting the stay. During the stay, I developed what a medical professional described as folliculitis, a skin condition that can be associated with exposure to unclean water. I cannot state definitively that the pool caused this, but the timing and circumstances were concerning. By contrast, the private accommodation owner was significantly more professional and empathetic. They acknowledged the challenges we faced — including the lack of a usable pool for much of the stay — and, while limited in what they could do, they did provide a small amount of compensation, which was appreciated. For a resort positioned as a premium destination, the lack of transparency, empathy, and guest-focused care was deeply disappointing. Based on our experience, I would not return or recommend this property.

Fabulous stay, great staff. We got engaged before arrival and the staff made our whole stay extra special, with bubbles on arrival, a note and champagne in our room as well as a room upgrade. All of the staff were so helpful especially the reception ladies who recommended things to do , nice restaurants and how to get around the hotel. Thank you Pullman for an extra special weekend

We would have liked water in room , as we arrived fridge empty , not even a water bottle, this was disappointing for this type of accommodation , almost everywhere you get at least water in room as, even if it was at a cost Fridge should have been stocked with something , it is called minibar ☺️. I requested one more chair as we had only one for 2 people, request rejected. Restaurant and house keeping good service , happy with that, food in general and breakfast was very good .
