One of the worst hotels I’ve stayed in. Rooms are dirty and there is no pressure on the showers at all so it barely dribbles out of the shower. I went to the restaurant to be told they wasn’t taking walk ins even though I’m staying at the hotel, so no food available at night. Was meant to be staying 2 nights but checked out after one.

Was there for a three day conference. Pros - staff friendly and helpful, food very good Cons - room pretty tired, threadbare carpet on stairs, cleanliness was OK, but it's difficult to keep a worn out facility as clean as a new one, crackly speaker for music in the brasserie!

Lovely building, friendly staff, great location

I stayed for two nights. The building is lovely, very close to the city centre (in fact, just behind the High Street) but at the same quiet as it is opposite a no longer in use watermill. Nice food at the restaurant and all members of staff were lovely. The only two things I did not like is that the room was quite dark (no lights on the ceiling) and breakfast choices for vegetarians are quite limited.

The staff and public areas of the hotel were great. The rooms are very dated, tired and really need to be renovated. I actually feel the rooms themselves let down the Mercure brand.
